I'm looking for 4 benchmarks:  Have you developed qbs and/or schemed offenses to fit their strength; have your relationships with your qbs been solid; do you have significant NFL coaching experience; do you have experience as a head coach.

1.  Jim Caldwell.  For my taste, he is the leader in the clubhouse.  I reach out to him first.  If he says, "Yes," my search ends right there.  He is mature, even keeled, a winner, a proven coach who ticks all the boxes.

2.  Josh McDaniels.  He is the scheme adapter that every NFL OC should be.  My biggest question for him would be, "What the heck were you thinking with the whole Colts episode?"

3a.  Doug Pederson.  My preference for a coach after the first two becomes less enthusiastic.  My questions for Pederson would be, "What happened with your relationship with Carson Wentz?"  I would also need to evaluate his success level without Frank Reich on his staff.

3B.  Brian Daboll.  This year tarnishes his luster with many because of the one dimensional nature of the Bills offense this season.  I think that is more a function of lack of running backs (personnel) and not his ability.  He has developed Josh Allen and shown to be adaptable and innovative with his offense.
