And now look at what he's doing with Mac Jones. He is showing that he can win without Tom Brady. Bill Belichick, whether you hate him or not, is arguably the greatest HC of all time. And he was fired.

The question is why was he fired, not is he the GOAT. I made no statements as to his present ability. When he was fired, it was partly because Art Modell was a cheap bastard and partly because he was not coaching at the level he is presently. Having a QB like Tawmy in place afforded him time and experience to develop his skills. He is extensively knowledgeable about the rules, and how to exploit them for his team's gain. He knows how to get the best out of his players and coaches. Because he's won, he has the full trust of everyone on his team.

Back in the day when he was fired, that wasn't the case.
