Think Saints hire from within and promote Dennis Allen? I've seen that floated around a little bit. Also, Saints are currently 74 million over the cap with lots of aging vets. Not sure it's a dream destination.

Yeah that looks like a placeholder coaching gig to me.  They'll be hiring again in a year or two in my estimation.

Again, I can appreciate the wishful thinking regarding Sean Payton, but he isn't coming here.

No doubt it's wishful thinking, but Shad should be doing or have done his due diligence on that situation before making a hiring decision.  I would think if Payton were to be traded, he wouldn't go about it by retiring first, he'd either talk to Saints ownership or have his agent talk to teams with vacancies or both and the trade would be worked out without him retiring.
