It's not ideal, but I rather have Spielman overseeing Baalke ala Caldwell and checking his influence on the roster, with a competent SB head coach; then Baalke and Bevell.

At this point, find the positive, as it's few and far between

Rick Spielman and Doug Pederson are both repped by Professional Sports Representation, and oh ya. Fire Baalke!!

On 1010XL said Tony Khan is the one pushing Pederson. Pederson is rumored to be Tony's guy

Spielman is the one who brought Cousins in. He put them in QB purgatory.

But he also brought in guys like Thielen and Jefferson.  Presumably he won't need to chase a starting QB, just put the pieces around him

I am confident he could do that for us assuming Baalke stays the hell out of the way.

This is an unacceptable assumption for me. Baalke has to go.

Conversely, given the fact that we are the Jags, we could destroy 3 reputable careers (including Trevor) in just 2 years.   That's pretty hard to do but if anybody has a shot at it I think it's us Smile

So Khan is a moron?

Not as a businessman but as an owner of sports franchises, pretty much.

Ok but it still comes down to firing or at least seriously demoting Baalke.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

We may not have a choice.  Khan may not be interested in firing Baalke.  He may be inclined to keep him.

Minnesota has had 4 winning seasons since 2012, when Spielman came to the Vikings. He's had a losing record the last 2 seasons. He may be respected around the league, but there has to be better options than this. I know getting rid of Baalke is priority #1, but c'mon, can't we get someone from a winning organization that knows to put together a good roster?

You mean like Dave Caldwell, who was the next big up and comer GM that helped build the Falcons ~ 10 years ago when they turned the corner and started winning.

If Spielman has been interviewed officially for the GM role, don’t we need to interview more people to fulfil the Rooney rule? Maybe Wilson will be one?

I would too, but I find neither one acceptable. You know as well as I do, if Baalke stays, he'll find a way to exert his influence over this roster. He's a snake.

It's becoming painfully obvious to me, that's not gonna happen. Anyone brought in, even Spielman, is gonna have to deal with Baalke. Baalke is Shad's "guy."

It doesn't sound like he interviewed for GM. He is likely some EVP type of role, which is more or less a fake position so I don't think they have Rooney Rules for it.

I totally agree and believe this is what will happen, so I'm probably gonna take a hiatus from this team until things truly start to change. I can't deal with it any longer. Doing things half-[BLEEP] is accomplishing nothing.

The Falcons weren't exactly setting the world on fire. He's not who I would've chosen, but I gave him a chance. I want someone from a real winning organization.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the candidate that didn't answer directly was Leftwich. Why would you have Baalke in the room while asking that.

Really? Because Jaguars, of course.
