On who?

Really?

Whoever is there at 178-192 that didn't suck in college

This isn't difficult

So just draft a kicker in the 6th that didnt suck in college.  Gotcha.  I thought you might of had someone in mind

Probably the weakest draft for kickers that i can remember. Take Jake Moody in the 7th

We are talking about spending a late round pick on competition for Matthew Wright

If there’s a guy available in the sixth or seventh round who has a scouting report worthy of gambling that late round pick, then you spend it

If there isn’t a guy there, then you don’t

I can’t believe I’m explaining this

If im drafting a kicker in the 6th, there better be a specific kicker they have in mind.  If not you can just get one in FA for competition

Falcons better extend Koo because if not im trying to sign and make him one of the highest paid kickers.

Settle down - it’s a basic draft strategy suggestion

The thing is, looking at the pre-draft rankings, there really isn't a guy, so when someone says "draft one of em", it's natural to ask who that person has in mind.

Don't draft a kicker. There are free agents you can bring in as competition. But this guy has been accurate and kicking 50+ yarders with no issues. He's a little weak on kickoffs but I'll take accuracy over a strong legged kicker who can't be counted on to make a game winning kick.

I would draft a kicker if one was good enough to draft, but not sure there is in this draft.

Agree. You shouldnt have to rely on a kicker to cover for lousy kickoff coverage anyway. Go get a kickoff specialist if your coverage is that bad.

Ask the Bengals if they regret drafting a kicker?

I'm old enough to remember when Wright made kicks just as clutch as that. Maybe more so.

That's laughable.  Wright was short multiple times this year.  It's insulting to the Bengals rookie to compare the two.

Are you part of the "never draft a kicker" crowd, or are you simply saying that Wright is good enough that drafting a kicker would be silly this year?  At the very least, I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone screaming (all caps) that you never draft a kicker.

I agree on Wright though.  Once he got his footing, he was kicking a really pretty, and darned accurate ball anywhere from 55 yards in.  Serious competition is needed though... The short kickoffs thing is a real problem.  Either that, or we need a coach that can teach our special teams kickoff group not to completely suck bringing down the returner.

If by "multiple" you mean 1, then you're right. He missed a total of 3 all year and two of those that I recall weren't short they were wide left. Most of the angst about Wright were the consecutive attempts against Buffalo. Which was probably due to nerves. When it counted, he was money (see the Miami win).

It's perfectly rational to compare the Bengal's rookie kicker with our guy.

McPherson was 28/33 for 84.8% with a longest of 58.
Wright was 21/24 for 87.5% with a longest of 56.

I'm mostly a "never draft a kicker" guy. There are bigger holes to fill. We can get someone off the street that can compete for the job.

I'd bring back Lambo, Wright, and an udfa to compete.

I think Lambos still got it and Meyer was part of the reason along with not being fully healed from a hip injury.

No. We need a bigger leg. Decent accuracy but no power.
Here we go again
