Fantastic Job Mr Khan! He took a ton of heat but got the guy we needed!

#1

I said it before and will say it again.  The last thing we needed was a rookie Head Coach and a rookie Gm running this crap show.  Leftwich was the sexy pick but I believe he would of failed hard in this mess.  We needed a guy who has built a winning team, worked successfully with rookie QB's, and a man who players would run though a wall for him.  Pederson was loved in Philly.

Khan took a ton of flack for taking his time with the pick.  He did his due diligence but in the end he got his guy.   Good Job Shad!   I often Clown on Shad and admit he is a bad owner but this maybe a start of changing my mind.

I agree. You have to give the guy credit. If he deserves the criticism that hes been getting, then he surely deserves the credit now. This is a nice decision.

Why so long between the two interviews?

Reeks of desperation, not due diligence.

That's what happens when our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice fall through.

Then he's either left with us, or a team that's going through a lawsuit, or a team in salary cap and talent hell, or another team that nobody wants because they have little talent and a QB with pending legal issues.

This is what happens when you do a thourough coaching search.

Normally we rush them, and look where that's got us.

There was nothing thorough about this coaching search. This franchise fumbled around every corner and was lucky that they could scramble back into the only respectable HC candidate left because honestly nobody wants to take the other remaining HCing jobs.

I said from the start that I was a big fan for Pederson as HC and Caldwell as Assistant HC/QB Coach. Idiot.

It wasn't until they dragged this [BLEEP] on that the excitement died down. Then they added all the Leftwich stuff into it and the excitement died down for Pederson even more, but you're clueless so I really don't know why I'm even wasting my time going over this again.

You're a literal clown. Your excitement died down? lmfao do you think Pederson being hired 2 weeks ago or now is going to change the results?

Be quiet.

You don't think hiring a HC 3 weeks ago would have any different results now? Don't you think teams build staffs? What do you think they would do in 1, 2 or 3 weeks of time if a HC was announced then vs now? Do you really think things would be the same if Pederson was announced as HC 2-3 weeks ago? Are you [BLEEP] dumb dude? Wait, nevermind, you already answered that. You are.

I agree he wound up making a good hire, and possibly made even better if he brings Spielman aboard.

I believe Khan wanted a more deliberate approach on some level, but I don't believe for one minute that this is what he had in mind.

I believe this search took a lot longer than it should have because of Baalke, and the length of time almost yielded catastrophic results.

Risch Bisaccia would have been a good hre for the Raiders.  Given all of the adversity they went through this year with the Gruden firing and the loss of their two first round picks due to legal troubles, the Raiders could have rolled over and withered.  But under Bisaccia, they didn't quit.  They rallied and made the playoffs under him, and he deserves credit for that.

but he established credibility with the team by working with them for years.

But he wasn't tasked with developing any QB.  They had Carr on the team.  They also had vets.

He would have been a disaster here though.  He'd be starting from scratch...tasked with developing Trevor Lawrence, working with a young team in a dysfunctional front office with a loss weary fan base.

Had Pederson taken another position (the Saints, for example), this search would not have been so successful especially since BL removed his name from consideration.

As it stands now, he made a good hire, but put the team behind schedule in terms of assembling a staff and getting a start on the Senior Bowl scouting, film study of the players on the team, etc.

Khan succeeded, yes.  But he did so in spite of himself.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

I think the hire is good, but the process was portrayed like it was some terribad, hellacious journey. Hopefully that was all media fluff. I am happy with the hire, now they just gotta can the snake and we're good for a fresh new start.

Regardless, we still came out with a positive (key word: positive) outcome. Now let's get behind our team and new coach and move forward.

Now it’s time to reassign Baalke to the janitorial staff.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

Solid hire but I haven't seen the details. If Baalke is still the GM then it doesn't solve anything. But at least he didn't hire a special teams coach with no HC experience.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Coaches already have an idea who they want to be on their staff and who wants to be on their staff before they are even hired. Two weeks isn't going to have an impact on this.

I think you are being over dramatic.

Yea. He was so thorough that he took a vacation right in the middle of interviewing candidates.

Definitely thorough.

Reeks of preparation, not desperation.  This is an executive role, not flipping burgers at the local fast-food joint.  The time and effort that passed between the first interview and the second was almost certainly filled with preparation by Pederson and additional discussions with the jags organisation.  If Pederson had any sort of transformative agenda then he had a lot of prep work to do in order to present it.  There's no chance he was pottering around the garden triming roses and planting petunias.  He was assessing the roster, determining draft and FA approaches, pulling together his core team and preparing a second interview to present that vision.  One month to prepare that is pretty tight.
