Jaguars hiring former Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter as passing game coordinator.

That guy has the best name ever.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

Good hire for the specific role Jim Bob Cooter will be in with the Jaguars.

Before Jim Bob Cooter was promoted to Offensive Coordinator in the middle of the 2015 season after Joe Lombardi was fired, Cooter was the Lions QB Coach. Cooter, along with Jim Caldwell, made a huge positive impact in helping Matthew Stafford get to where he is today.

With Cooter as Lions OC, the Lions passing game was much better than the Lions running game.

So you're saying our running game is going to suck now?

Being that Jim Bob Cooter is the Jaguars Passing Game Coordinator, not the Offensive Coordinator or Running Game Coordinator, there's a greater chance the answer to your question is No.

I like Cooter as much as the next guy, but he got licked pretty good in 2016 against the Jags D. A Bortles signature pick 6 and a gifted punt return TD cost us that game. I remember it well.

That wasn't the game where Senderick Marks jumped off sides on a 4th down was it?

That game might be the most pronounced example of the Lions struggles in getting the running game going during the time Jim Bob Cooter was the Lions OC.  The Lions had 14 rushing yards the entire game!  The season ending / career altering foot injury Ameer Abdullah suffered in week # 2 vs. Tennessee that season contributed substantially to the Lions running game problems.  But to be held to 14 yards rushing in an entire game ( great job by the Jags Defense ) is inevitably going to take its toll on the passing game.

Yes.  That was a rare time that afternoon in which the Jags Run Defense didn't come through for the overall team.  Great job by Matthew Stafford on that play.
