No the hate speech is actually still banned. The terms of service are still there and nothing has changed in that regard. It's really not that free and probably never will be.

They are still banning and shadowing stuff. Some topics are still being removed and accounts are all restored yet.

I forget the numbers, but a lot of that influx of "hate speech" came from only a few accounts. Just another game of statistics manipulation.

The influx came from primarily bots and if I had to guess who had bots laying around after getting their previous accounts banned for being bots it was liberals who were using them to push their talking points and brainwashing.

Twitter will be okay. It’s financial and FTC woes started before Musk bought it. Twitter was losing $4 million a month and even founder Jack Dorsey apologized for saying he grew the company too fast. Meanwhile, user numbers have gone up. Advertisers who have paused their accounts can’t ignore that for long. 

Musk will figure it out.

He's culling the dead weight jobs and the malcontents. That alone will stop a lot of the financial bleeding. What's more fun to watch is the outcry of disgruntled employees who are getting fired for publicly criticizing Musk since the takeover. Now, I've only worked for 51 years of my life and maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems to be a general rule that if you criticize the CEO of your company publicly (or even privately), that you might indeed be asked to leave your job and said company. I guess they're so used to the 'freedom of speech / freedom from consequences' paradigm that's been in place there for so long, that their heads are now exploding trying to absorb the reality that they just got [BLEEP] canned.

Mr. Musk made the announcement in an early-morning email to employees on Wednesday; The New York Times obtained the message, which had the subject line “A Fork in the Road.” In the note, Mr. Musk, 51, reiterated that Twitter faced a difficult road ahead and offered employees three months of severance if they did not want to continue working there “to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0.”...
