2. Scherff
3. Little
4. Bartch
5. Fortner
6. Shatley
7. Richardson
8. Taylor

So any OL we take will be 8th/9th on relevant depth chart. Not saying don’t do it, and maybe I am more comfortable with Richardson than most, but maybe resources are better applied elsewhere?

Taylor is just a waste, though.  I really like the person.  But he's a turnstile and a penalty waiting to happen.

who remembers the year we took Taylor and a ton of people had us mocked to takem in the first lmao.

I don't think we should underrate Shatley.  He has played well the numerous times he's been forced into the lineup because Linder was having his annual injury.  Fortner will have to beat him out to get the starting job.  I'm glad we drafted a center, but I don't think we should pencil him in as a starter just yet.

If true, this would be great news. If taylor can move to guard and play well, that would help this o-line so much. You could almost have a scenario where there isn't any weak spots on the line and you can just run the ball behind who ever you want and the defense wouldn't know what hit them.

I agree. I'm just hoping he gets snaps at Center in the offseason/preseason enough to be ready if Shatley is injured or falters.

Shatley has had games with a bad win rate in pass protection, and I could see that forcing Fortner into the line-up if Trevor is taking sacks because of it too often.

I'd be happy as a clam if Shatley stays healthy all year and never gives them reason to replace him.
Fortner can just be ready to back-up Scherff or Bartch (if Bartch wins the job.)

It really disappoints me to see young men like this become involved in educational and post-NFL career pursuits when they could be forming entourages and securing a private booth at a swanky strip club. So sad.

Yea, before the draft our guys took 30-40 guys like that off their board.  Whats the fun in that?  (maybe a few of the name brand players some of you wanted)

Watched his Georgia tape and it’s really good. He’s burly strong and anchors well, he might not be the most athletic guy but he does well when he gets his hands on you.

I listened to that Campo piece as well. Taylor will play what the Jaguars want him to play or he can shoot the fade.

Unfortunately the only drill that really correlates to IOL success is short shuttle, and there is a large difference between 4.71 and 4.95. Linder was barely on the right side of the 4.75 threshold and obviously Fortner is nowhere near it. Fortner needs to become an outlier.

How many starting centers in the league are under the 4.75 threshold ?

It's actually the jumps, 10 yard splint, and bench for center. Shuttle is for LB

Thanks for the links.  Seems Fortner has all the abilities plus that Linder had. Now, if he can make the transistion to the NFL a good pick indeed.

Digging around - there were 5 Centers in PFF's top 20 centers with times of 4.75 or higher.
Their top rated guy (Hudson) had the exact time Fortner did.

Plenty of guys sub 4.70 as well.
I'd say it's AN indicator, but it seems you've probably placed too much stock in it.

You know short shuttle is what matters for IOL.

Tebow had a crazy good shuttle time.  I don't think he could line up a guard given his size but I wouldn't count him out at the center position.  Last year was just dumb luck at the TE position because we were super loaded there (kind of like trying out for the Bolles swim team).

If I’m Trevor, I’m feeling a-lot better. With the RB blocking well; he’ll get plenty of opportunities to throw the ball.
