Has something happened to our old friend Vic Ketchman?

Any info? I used to read Ask Vic on packers.com up until maybe a couple months ago, and now I see that he only contributes like 1 per week. They've now re-titled the column "Insider Inbox'. In the August 27th column he writes:
Quote:
Joe from Milwaukee, WI
What does that mean? Based on his stadium hot dog references from past columns (yes, I was an everyday reader) I guess he won't be travelling to games? Hopefully things are ok with him. I always enjoyed his work on this site. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
He had a second heart attack which including a ride in a helicopter and he decided to retire to South Carolina after that. I've also heard he may be suffering from the onset of Alzheimers but I'm not sure that's actually true and for now I choose not to believe that.
I miss Vic's column and his historical perspective on the game. I used to read every last question and answer. Now, I'll occasionally check out an O-zone, but it's just not the same.

I like Oehser's more irreverant style, but most of what I know about football was learned from reading Vic Ketchman. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I did not like the O-Zone at all and stopped reading shortly after John Oehser started doing it. Later I noticed several times he is not a very good article writer either.

I miss Vic and I've stopped reading whatever his name is Johnny O column.
I know some of you will defend Ohser but I can't stand his geekiness.
Hopefully, Vic is on the road to full recovery from his health problems and that he has many, many enjoyable years ahead.

I hadn't heard the Alzheimers stuff, god I hope not his memories are what makes him rich. That guy taught me more about football than anyone I've ever been around. I miss his daily column.
Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17 2016 draft players I think will be good

I'm not sure what to make of the following but w/o saying it's concerning: http://www.packers.com/news-and-events/a...4d971984ba Jerry from Wausau, WI Vic, I feel sorry for the readers that tell you what a difference you make in their lives. I find your column interesting at times, as well as opinionated, but life would go on just fine if your blog shut down tomorrow! The commenters at the end of the daily columns have no lives and spend all day, apparently, trying to amuse each other with small talk they, and only they, find funny! Do you plan to continue writing until your Alzheimer’s is full blown, or will you gracefully slide off into the moonlight? My graceful slide begins next Monday, when packers.com will launch “Insider Inbox,” a mailbag-type column in this same format. I will write it once a week as “Ask Vic,” and the other days, Mike Spofford and Wes Hodkiewicz will answer your questions. Don’t hold back. You don’t have to treat them with kid gloves. I consider this to be exciting news for “Ask Vic” readers. This is the beginning of something more, something better. In the meantime, let’s have some fun this week. Read more: http://www.packers.com/news-and-events/a...z4JvAJcoZK
I dont really read that to mean he has Alzheimers I see it more to show the negative side of his job. He also kind of confirms he doesnt have Alzheimers by saying he wont be writing and succumbing to the disease and instead will be slowly retiring from the business (moonlight). I have worked with people with dementia and Alzheimers in a nursing home and watching him in interviews, videos, and seeing his writing there doesnt appear to be any memory loss. They guy routinely brings up recent events that are non existent to Alzheimers patients along with long ago memories. He says he cherishes his memories and looks forward to making new ones. His heart maybe failing him but it does not appear his mind is. Im of the belief that the final thing he will do in his career is induct Fred Taylor into the hall of fame.

Best wishes to ol Vic; was a classy, humorous, eminently knowledgable man with great stories. And clearly loved this game that has brought us all here.
I'll take a shot in his honor tomorrow, he served the game and the fans well. Quote:I dont really read that to mean he has Alzheimers I see it more to show the negative side of his job. I sure hope that you are proven correct in that Vic doesn't have Alzheimer's. After seeing a family member dealing with the disease many years ago, anytime the disease is mentioned as a possibility or even worse is likely ( I'm not saying the latter is the case with Vic ), it's very concerning. It would be terrific if Vic has the opportunity to induct Fred Taylor and/ or Tony Boselli into the HOF. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Ole Ketchman is a true legend. The man took us through Salary Cap Camp, with quizzes n all. We all knew how to pay it forward, don't push it back, if nothing else. Players not plays, it's a young man's game - all coming to pass now in Jacksonville. He is the truth. Never missed Ask Vic, often printed it out as part of train read. I'm sure he'll visit da Ville soon. Stopped reading Ozone shortly after inception; peeked in a handful of times over the years.
Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.
Thanks for the info. I was a bit short on time yesterday and for some reason packers.com was taking forever to load. I figured I can count on the board for an answer. I hope he enjoys his retirement and is still able to contribute to the game for years to come. I really would have liked for him to write that book - even if it is just a compilation of the best of Ask Vic with a few more stories from his career; how amazing would that be? It is kind of sad to think after 44 years of him making the walk to the press box on Sundays he'll now be sitting in a recliner and watching games on Sunday Ticket.
