It's not the gun, it's the person behind it........

Well if CNN is the source we can be sure it's a lie.

You actually can't until you find another version of the information and demonstrate that it is more credible.

How ironic that less than 24 hours after this thread is started there is a mass shooting in Chicago.

That's the 306th mass shooting this year in the US.

So yes, mass shootings are a uniquely American problem

Nah, just like listening to you your reputation preceeds and discredits you.

Almost like it was intentional. Of course, when the government is waging war on its citizens things like this tend to happen.

This shooting was less than the normal about of black people shot by black people in a normal Chicago weekend. Before Monday, 15 had already died and over 60 people were shot ..... yet not a word about it because it is black on black crime and no one reports on it or does anything to stop it.

It's a problem in the US, certainly, but those numbers are also skewed by our size. We live in a free society with 350 million people, and we also have a mental health problem. It's going to happen. When you account for variables and adjust per capita, we have mass attacks at a rate similar to other countries. There are some European countries that do a better job than us in this area, but they also focus heavily on mental health disorders. We are definitely in a downward spiral, and too many people are starting with the solution.

The downward spiral is because people are fixated on what men in 1788 thought was appropriate.  Hard to advance when your beliefs are almost 230 yers old.

I wouldn’t really say they are skewed by the population. Mexico is 2nd on that list and a huge way behind, and the US population is only 2.5x its size, that would put them on 20. So still substantially higher.

I would also contest the ‘free society’ point.

That you think those beliefs should change is the problem. Human nature hasn't changed and the government doesn't like you.

He's conflating the structure of government with the cultural zeitgeist. I'm sure he'd love to enter into a contact with someone and not have a judge interpret it how it was meant.
