What do you want to see from the starters this week?

I'm personally most excited to see Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, Trevor Lawrence and mostly Travis ETN. Hoping to see a productive offense that gives some hope going into the regular season. As for defense, I'd like to see how well our starting front can contain the browns run game. And Travon Walker getting some more pressure/sacks would be extremely exciting.

Offense-Consistency, offensive scoring, timing, no three and outs and stretching the field..

Defense-Limiting the run, turnovers, no-fly zones and cohesion.

ST-Accuracy, confidence, flipping the field and pinning them deep.

Good coaching in All Phases.

Time Will Tell.

It'd probably be pretty surprising to see Kirk play in this coming game vs the Browns. He only practiced off to the side today after rolling his ankle the other day. I doubt he plays in the game Friday, but I don't think hes been officially ruled out though yet.

Next week's game vs the Steelers (Saturday, August 20th) is probably a more likely time line for Kirk.

Kirk and Laviska are rulled out for Friday's game.

I guess putting this in the Jags Browns game thread where this is already being discussed wouldn't satisfy your narcissism.

I want to see the starters carving butt impressions on the bench.

No 3 and outs for the offense

Just one clean drive on offense that ends up in the endzone or they at least get inside the redzone and walk out of there with points. Limited to zero mistakes made penalty wise or drop wise in the receiving game. Overall consistency and fluidity out there really. You know? Look like an actual NFL offense.

Defensively pretty much the same thing. Correct the errors we saw against the Raiders with the ground defense and don't let them gash you with the screen game. Get their offense off the field. Would love to see two or three "three and outs" pitched to the Browns tomorrow night in a row. Especially if rub and tug is out there starting for them.

Welp, so much for our crown as preseason champs.

I want to see confidence and competence on offense. It would be night and day difference from last season. I want to see if our starting LBs prove less vulnerable than the backups did last week.

I want to see the starters get in, play well, and get the heck on the sidelines.

I really don't understand this way of thinking.

Zay Jones. He's being touted from training camp reports as the Second Coming of Jerry Rice. Let's see it..

Starter or not, a kicker making more than one FG, preferably from beyond 50 yds.

Garret vs Cam
Their OTs vs Allen and Walker
Run D
An explosive run from Etienne
And our offense score a TD in the first quarter

I'd like to see the starting offense get two series in just looking competent and dialed in.

I don't expect fireworks, I don't expect flashy, I just want to see them look like they are on pace to be competitive on September 11th vs the Commanders.

It would be nice to see what Shatley and Fortner look like vs the browns starters if they play. That's the "concern" area of the line IMO.

A bonus would be to see a flash or two from guys like Engram, Arnold, Etienne, and Zay.

Defensively - I'd just like to see them play well against the run. They still won't have both starting LBs on the field yet, but they need to start getting that run D ready for regular season. It's not there yet.

That's unfortunate but I'm fairly confident that Kirk will be good, just wanted to see how well him and Trevor have gotten along.. but theres still a few guys I want to see make some plays.

I don't really see how making a thread on a very inactive forum is being narcissistic but okay. The likely hood of me getting responses to my question on a fresh thread over a post on page 56 of a thread a lot of people probably aren't regularly checking is higher, to answer your question.

Winning in the preseason is meaningless, you are right. But getting reps and getting warmed up prior to the season opener imo is extremely valuable. Take a look back at Minshews rookie season, he played the majority of snaps in the preseason and didn't score once, he looked pittiful in preseason. But he came out week 1 when Foles went down and played out of his mind. Likely had he not played in the preseason, we would have seen those early struggles the first 4 weeks of the reg season rather than a more competent player in week 1. That's just my take tho.

There is nothing wrong with it. Now if we were on a packed forum that had new threads every 5 minutes, it would be best to keep as much of a certain topic to a specific thread for sure, but people around here for some reason don't understand how dead this forum is.
