19: R1 P19 TE Michael Mayer - Notre Dame
51: R2 P20 CB Emmanuel Forbes - Mississippi State
83: R3 P20 DL Gervon Dexter - Florida
122: R4 P20 CB Riley Moss - Iowa
123: R4 P21 C Luke Wypler - Ohio State
155: R5 P20 OT Connor Galvin - Baylor
188: R6 P13 EDGE YaYa Diaby - Louisville
195: R6 P20 WR Dontay Demus Jr. - Maryland
207: R6 P32 DL Karl Brooks - Bowling Green
224: R7 P9 RB Kenny McIntosh - Georgia
Some of these players I had to dig into. While doing so. The two that came up intrigue wise for me are YaYa Diaby and Karl Brooks. Both are highly productive in the sack column and looked pretty good on film from what I saw. They may help backfill some of the depth we're going to lose with Smoot, Key and Robertson-Harris. Wypler from Ohio State is billed at Center but I think he's a solid prospect for Guard. Can help out like Shatley at Center as well. I also really like that Galvin guy out of Baylor. Pretty tall prospect, would be a good work in and back up behind Little at RT if they don't retain Taylor.
Overall I still like my first four selections here. Mayer was BAP there. Getting him to go along with hopefully a tagged Engram gives this offense even more versatility with an incoming Ridley at WR. Forbes was there where I like him in RD2 for us. Dexter is a mountain and could be a nice NT for this defense. Should eventually spell, if not, replace Fatukasi down the road in this scenario.
Riley Moss is just too good of a nickel CB prospect with a nose for the endzone to not have on this team in RD4. I think with Griffin being cut, Herndon being a liability and only having Campbell and Williams to really rely on going into 2023 we're going to have to double dip at CB IMHO. Landing Forbes gives you a Diggs type gambler at the position and landing Moss gives you a really sound nickel cover man with special team's ability.
Demus Jr. in RD6? Yes, please. McIntosh is a dual threat there in RD7. I know we can probably pick-up a free agent RB that goes undrafted but I think McIntosh production wise, versatility wise and the fact that he's now played in multiple big title games is a good pick up to have on this team. He'll get plenty of action against TCU. Could do far worse in RD7 IMHO.
Nice draft class. I like doing these simulations since we learn more about prospects like Diaby and Brooks. We have just moved back to spot 24 on FanSpeak due to the victory over the Chargers. I drafted the following group beginning with pick 24:
Round 1: Broderick Jones
Round 2: O'Cyrus Torrence
Round 3: Derrick Hall
Round 4: Sam LaPorta and Tre'devious Hodges-Tomlinson
Round 5: Parker Washington
Round 6: D.J. Johnson and DeWayne McBride
Overall, I'd love to end up with this group. The strength is significantly upgrading the offensive line, although I doubt Jones will be there at pick 24. I would have preferred to take an Edge rusher earlier than round 3 since this will be the number 1 or 2 greatest need following the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Board did not allow me to do this as my philosophy is to take the BAP at positions of need each round.
