I'll admit last year I was critical of making Agnew an early signing, and a pricey (LOL, in retrospect) one considering his non-return game production. D'oh. He ended up being one of our brightest pick-ups.

Jones gives us options. He's got 2 years to either prove his worth, or he's gone. It's on him to figure his place in the system and to put a good showing out there to insure his spot is secure any further than that. I'm much happier that we made an effort to improve the WR room than to rest on our laurels.

Considering what the top WR are making these days, his pay is not that significant. Even if he ends up a role-player, that's great, so long as it helps the team out. What if he takes Agnew's place in the passing game, and Agnew has fresher legs for the kick returns? That alone may be the value in this signing.

If Agnew wasn't coming off an injury, he'd be our best receiver. He was last season before he got hurt. I don't see anyone better than him on the roster now.

Dude.
C'mon.

Go watch Agnew's routes again.
He's not a polished route runner and his hands are not great either.
There's a reason he's been a return guy for this many years.
He's fine for a package of plays at WR, but he wasn't the best receiver last year - he just provided some spark when we were down and out and you're letting that color your perspective.

Bothe Jones' and Kirk are better route runners and have more consistent hands.

I do think maybe Agnew gives you more as a gadget guy than viska, due to his speed and ability to take it to the house at any time. We need more guys like that on the field.

They both have play making ability when given the ball in space. They just do so with different skillsets. One is agile and elusive while the other is a challenge for secondary players to tackle singlehandedly.

The problem trying to make Agnew your gadget guy is that you open him up to injury and rob yourself of a return specialist -- which is exactly what happened last year.

If they both make the roster it should be easy to have a page in the playbook for both of them and not over-expose Agnew to injury potential.

Shenault needs a good camp an preseason to right the ship.

I didn't say Agnew was good. I said if he was healthy, he'd be our best receiver. This is a testament to just how bad our receiving unit is.

Maybe Kirk is a better roue runner and has more consistent hands, but he is still an average slot receiver at best and when Agnew did catch the ball, it was usually for a substantial gain. Marvin Jones is done. There is nothing left in the tank. He stunk last season, as did all our WR's.

If Shenault makes this roster, we have failed to upgrade the WR unit.

That's like saying:
"If my neighbors dog still has a black patch on his left front paw tomorrow, we're definitely going to be struck by a comet that destroys the whole planet."

There are literally dozens of different ways this unit can be upgraded and still have Shenault on the roster.

I'm telling ya, this will be a top 10 defense.

LBs in the correct position? I'll believe it when I see it. How long has it been?

This year the group will be better with Pederson and a better Trevor. Sure, I'd love to get a #1 but if we don't get one I don't see it as a big problem.

Didn't someone post that Pederson never had a WR with more than 1000 yards in a season?

Ya, I was thinking the same thing. I don’t want to jinx anything, so let’s hope that using a two TE set opens up some opportunities for the wide receivers to get open. Talk is, Trevor is ballin right now. Although, the defense so far is owning the offense in practice…

Seems like lots of positive chatter about Zay Jones so far in camp. Oddly, seems like more than I’m hearing about Christian Kirk.

This year, book it. Although if we just miss the top 10, I won't complain to much, lol.
