I wanted to participate in this thread last year, but I waited too long, so I'll start another one for this year.


Packers @ Jaguars

Packers. I HATE picking against us, but until GB can prove that he can coach this team to wins against elite teams I'll remain skeptical.


Vikings @ Titans

Titans. I would have picked the Vikings if Bridgewater was playing, but the combination of playing a QB who's had no training camp with this offense and being on the road gives the Titans an edge IMO.


Bears @ Texans

Texans. Even without Watt their defense is still pretty good and Cutler is no world beater. Who do the Bears have to stop DeAndre Hopkins. This could end up being a blowout.


Lions @ Colts

Colts. Seems like a favorable match-up for the home team. With no Megatron and Luck being healthy, the Colts should win this game.


Hope I'm wrong but after week 1 we'll probably be the cellar dwellers.

I could see any of the other three games going either way but I can't imagine the jaguars winning with Gus"31 flavors" Bradley at the helm against a team that is likely to finish the season with a winning record.


Under Bradley the jaguars have never beaten a team that finished that season with a winning record.

I don't think Indy can protect luck, and I don't think they have the corners, pass rush, or anything else on D to hang with an offense that's gonna throw the ball as much as the Lions are. They're pretty banged up on D right now. The tacks aren't gonna move the ball much against that solid Vikings D, and their D isn't going to stop AP I don't think. The bears and tinhorns is a toss up for me. I don't think Houston will have much of an offense right away, but their D is good enough to beat Chicago.


FWIW, I was in a sportsbook at Atlantis today, and the Packers are favored by 4 points. Didn't look at the others yet.

Unfortunately I agree. The pack would be 7 point favs on a neutral field, and 10 point favs at least in GB. I don't think we have much of a chance, and that 4 point spread really does stand out. I expect it to be around 5.5 at kickoff. I still could never bet on the Jags to lose though.

Don't understand people picking the Titans. They won't be able to stop AP and the Vikings have an excellent defense.

Packers - I think this will be a very close game, but the Packers have an edge with their experienced veterans. This game can definitely go both ways, I hope the Jags can get a W.

 

Vikings - The Vikings will be fine for this game. They'll use a fresh Adrian Peterson and a very strong defense to bring the Titans back to reality.

 

Texans - This will be a blowout. The Bears are lacking in talent, and I don't see how they move the ball against the Texans. Lamar Miller will have a big day.

 

Lions - Colts have a terrible defense, and on top of that, their starting corners are out. Lions have a strong defense, they'll shut down Gore with their front seven, and Glover Quinn won't allow Hilton to take the top off.
