I also didn’t care for what seemed like the very vocal clown movement was the same folks getting very vocal in their support of Byron.  There’s an extra bit of satisfaction that comes from how this season played out in the face of the very vocal folks attempting to drive and thinking they had the wheel.
So did Sirianni stunt the growth of Hurts? Or McVay stunt the growth of Goff? Or Taylor stunt the growth of Burrow?

Sometimes the young coordinator works out really well. Obviously, sometimes it doesn’t.

I’m extremely glad the Jags have Pederson. He was definitely the right man for the job. Before he was hired, I thought his ship at sailed on the Jags and they were left to choose off the scrap heap with that dude from the Raiders. That’s why I was pushing for Leftwich. Pederson wasn’t even on my radar since they went a month after his interview before hiring him. That’s not normal.

I think you have to look beyond "did it work" to say whether or not those hires were good fits at the time. Sirianni picked up where Doug left off, that was a mostly veteran squad with a young QB, same for McVay. You don't drop a greenhorn coach into a locker room that is a shambles, especially following the chaos that Urbz left in his wake. I honestly didn't think someone like Doug would want to come into the disaster area and try to resume his coaching career. So glad he did, even if the way he left Philly gave me pause.

I still think that Byron will make a decent head coach one day. Heck, he may be better there than as an OC. We don't know. But I'll agree that if you dropped him into the mess we had, I dunno that the team turns things around as quickly as Doug did, or at all. It worked out, and I believe that someone will eventually give him a shot.
