Best Jags Player Currently (not including QB)

#1

I just read a brief article on The Athletic naming each teams MVP excluding QBs, they listed Etienne for Jags which makes some sense although not sure he's reached that level yet.

Not sure the actual answer is that obvious at the moment, we had no pro-bowlers last year for example so no-one standing out.

I was thinking Tyson Campbell probably would get my vote.

It does feel like we have a lot of really good players but just not really any that have elevated themselves to great just yet. Unless anyone thinks I'm being harsh on anyone in the team?

Etienne had around 1400 - 1500 yards of total offense last year. Not bad for a guy that missed his entire rookie season. I think he'll be in the 1700 - 1800 range this season. I agree with you on Campbell. He continues to improve and it's impressive considering how lack luster and inconsistent the push up front has been in getting after opposing QB's.

You could make a case for Campbell, Etienne or Kirk outside of QB based on last season.

I hope Ridley and others grow the list of legit candidates this season.
Would REALLY be nice if another defensive player could make a case.

Right now it’s Campbell on defense, Etienne on offense, and Agnew on Special Teams.

A case could be made for Oluokun. He led the league in tackles the last 2 seasons. Here’s a guy that had 180+ tackles 2 years in a row with 4 sacks, 11 PD’s, 3 ints during that span. And he did it on 2 different teams. This cat gets after it..he’s a head-banger and a heck raiser.

Overall it’s Etienne as of right now. He missed his entire rookie season with an injury and came back the following season and put up almost 1500 yards of offense.

Fred Taylor is the only other back to do that for the Jaguars, when he missed 14 games in 2001 and came back in 2002 to put up 1700+ yards of offense.

Etienne is poised for a huge year. He had 1125 yards on the ground last season. This season I’m predicting anything north of 13 hunnit. He also had 35 receptions for 316 yards which he should maintain. It wouldn’t surprise me if Etienne went for 1600 on the ground in 2023. These boys have to respect this passing game these days and Etienne has the bag to do it. His game is Chris Johnson-like with his in-game speed.

It's Christian Kirk on offense and Tyson Campbell on defense. (I'm not going to count Ridley here as much as I want to, because we need to see where he's at after missing the time he had)

If I had to pick one, it's Campbell tho. He's been really good pretty much since he got here. He had a bit of an issue with tracking the ball down in college and throughout his first 75% of his rookie season, but he was always tied to the hip of the WR and last year he was playing at an elite level.

Beat me to it. You could also say that he's in on more plays, making him more valuable overall than a sideline defender.
