Jaguars Open Outside Linebacker Dawuane Smoot's 21-Day Practice Period

Much rather have him as our rotational guy than Chaisson. Hopefully he's healed up well!

They really need him taking those interior pass rush snaps he and Key split last year.

I'd start splitting Chaisson's snaps with Abdullah and get his feet wet.

With Davon Hamilton out we are getting basically ZERO pocket collapse save an occasional play from RRH.
Our DTs are letting QBs step up and make throws while the OLB's get pushed past the play.

Excellent news. I don't expect him to make splashes immediately but by around the end of this month or first week of November he'll probably be a lot more impactful. We can use all the help we can get out there. Allen is the only consistent presence we have and Walker is getting his moments here and there but we just need a little bit more help to maybe free him up.

Weren't we screaming this last year? I know NYC was. Part of our secondary problems and Allen/Walker's lack of production was largely due to the lack of interior pressure.

Yes.
They thought Hamilton would emerge as the lynchpin of "just enough" interior push.
That was never enough and now he's hurt.

It is not lost on me that it is the interior three on both sides of the ball that are at the top of the list needing help.

It looks like week 6 might be his first action.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.
