Gene Wilder Dead at 83

Gene Wilder -- star of classics like "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein" and more -- has died.

He was 83.

I can't imagine Willy Wonka without him, either.  As well as they tried, it's still head and shoulders above the remake.

Gene Wilder was always one of my favorites.  A truly gentle soul, and a talented actor.  RIP.

Looks like we finally know when a man will die from drinking like that (Blazing Saddles reference).

I hope you've found peace Gene.

My daughter sent me a text about this earlier. A couple of weeks ago Willy Wonka was on TV, which is her only exposure to Gene Wilder. She asked me if he had been in any other movies and I then explained that he was a very popular actor at one time. There's a large number of young adults and children who only knew him as Willy Wonka. Not a bad legacy.

Just imagine how much fun life must have been for Gene and Gilda in their short time together.

And you can tell Wilder is doing everything he can to get him to crack up.

Man, what a genius movie.
