Deserving of its own thread: Bribery

#1

This is what's wrong with our nation, and the Mikey's and the Marty's and the NYC's can't bring themselves to acknowledge that our political system is bought and paid for by powerful people with a globalist agenda.

Offering money or gifts to a public official to get them to change how they perform their duties is bribery.
Kari Lake is not a public official. So this is not an example of bribery.
There are many examples of bribery out there. It's inherent to the system because a candidate has to beg for money almost non-stop. Only a fool would believe that individual gift of money never ever changed the candidate's opinions or priorities. We even impose strict limits on what a candidate can receive, so the candidates turn around and create "separate" PACs that can receive more money and are "independent" from the candidate. The money will find its way to the candidate.
The only possible thing that might improve the situation is stricter disclosure for the donors to these PACs.

That's not the definition of bribery. It's Mikesez bumbling. Shame on you for taking him seriously, and shame on you for not caring about the corruption of our government.

Look we agree there is a problem.
What do you think the solution is?

The only solution at this point is to start over. The corruption of our society and government is fully complete; it won't be corrected, only replaced.

What does "start over" look like?  Who starts? What role does the military play in the process?

It needs to happen before human soldiers are replaced by AI which will follow their orders without question. Humans would rebel and fly or drive their weapons of war to the other side.

Every government and every society in all of human history has had some level of corruption.  Any student of history knows this.  And any student of history knows that our society and government is no more corrupt now than it has been in the past.

Governments are run by human beings, with all their inherent weaknesses.  No party or faction has a monopoly on greed and dishonesty.  It's just something we have to deal with.  It will never stop.  Make laws and try to enforce them.  That's all you can do.

Do powerful people have a "globalist agenda?"  It depends on your definition of globalist agenda.  A lot of powerful people believe in free trade, because they are capitalists, and they believe, with a lot of justification, that free trade is not only good for them, but good for everyone in general.

Cool.

So watch the US fall because we cannot compete with slave labor. Period.

I like Marty's post

The thread premise is a bit wacky though

US politics have devolved into a whirlwind of bull [BLEEP] tactics from every angle, so I'm not sure why something like this is a surprise to anyone. Especially when centered around a bull [BLEEP] candidate.

Big nothing burger IMO

There have always been and will always be external forces with gobs of money seeking to control election processes and outcomes. Nothing new - this one just got leaked.

Well when that bull [BLEEP] candidate would like nothing more than to get rid of clowns like you, gotta vote for him.

It looks like Texas today. The people who ultimately win the fight. They split into pro government and anti-government forces.

No. It's not a fact. It's an overly simplistic interpretation of the world, which is common behavior from people who don't know what they are talking about. It's laziness and comfort speaking over integrity and courage. The same lot that trot out every bit of Trump's flaws, making every faux pas crime, turn a blind eye to actual corruption of our democracy with a passive, "it is what it is." You guys are [BLEEP] weak.

Don't believe me? Ask yourself how this should be handled. IF you had power, this is a simple issue. The GOP chair gets prosecuted for corruption, and every journalist and 3 letter agency looks tirelessly for the culprit who initiated that bribe and arrests and convicts this person. Why isn't that realistic? BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY REAL POWER. So, instead, the simple among us raise their hands and hope things just don't get too bad. This system is broken because you guys are too comfortable to care. Until things are bad enough for you to care, it is what it is. Unless someone tries to change it. Then they're crazy.

Right - how are you going to "get rid of" 90 million Americans that vote or think like me?

Such a stupid [BLEEP] statement. All this ignorant bluster from dip [BLEEP] who think they are going to start some redneck revolution. Please...

She's a crappy TV personality turned crappy candidate who clearly can't win anyway.
Someone wants to pay her off to stay out of the way.
Big whoop.
