I have heard that free agency killed loyalty between teams and players. But there are some players in the modern era who have spent their whole careers with one team. Obviously many of these are QBs, but I thought it might be fun to try to put together a list of players who only knew one lockerroom. I'll start with:

Often players do not stay with the same team their whole careers because the team did not want them (you might know guys named Brett Favre and Peyton Manning). It is misleading.

I wonder how many on that list will actually see a different uniform before their career comes to an end? But I do love the idea of players staying with one team. I understand hunting for the rings and money but staying loyal and trying to bring the rings to you instead of chasing them seems like a bigger goal & in the end a possibly better feeling.

Marcedes Lewis is the most likely to change teams. That would be for football reasons, not the business side.

Using 1993 or later as the baseline of a player playing at least the majority of his NFL career,  several former Lions players come to mind:

 

1.   Jason Hanson ( 21 seasons ) .  The most games by any NFL player with the same team in league history.

2.   Dominic Raiola  ( 14 seasons)

3.   Robert Porcher  ( 13 seasons )

4.   Jeff Backus ( 12 seasons  )   Backus and Raiola were the first 2 picks by Matt Millen as Lions G.M.   It obviously went downhill after those two picks and the Shaun Rogers selection over the rest of that draft and the next few years.

5.   Barry Sanders  ( 10 seasons ).

 

Matthew Stafford, Brandon Pettigrew,  and DeAndre Levy are currently in their 8th seasons.   Stafford and Levy have a much better chance of reaching 10 or more than Pettigrew.

 

Regarding other teams,  here are some others:

 

Robert Mathis has been with the Colts since the early part of last decade.   He probably will play his entire career with them.

 

Will Shields played his entire 14 year career with the Chiefs.

 

Larry Fitzgerald is in his 13th season with the Cardinals.   He has a good chance of finishing his career with them.

 

D'Brickashaw Ferguson played his entire 10 year career with the Jets.   I believe he missed only 1 Offensive snap in his entire 10 year career.

 

Matt Light played his entire 12 year career with the Patriots.
