This news took me by surprise, as the inherited contract looked like a great deal for the Texans.  On the other side, in today's NFL players do not LIKE deals that are great for their team...which can lead some whining and a potential holdout.  If it was up to me I would have shortened the 4 year deal with a raise and some guarantees to a 2 year deal, but maybe the Texans offered that and Diggs wasn't interested in hitting the FA market at 32.

At the end of the day this is a deal to go all in and win BIG next year, and at the worst your giving up a 33% chance at landing a starter next year (draft math) to make it happen.  There's also the concept that adding a starter to to a loaded team, will cause his numbers to go down, making a re-signing more palatable if they're interested in keeping him around.

All this was most likely worked out before the trade. Alas, it voids any chance for a comp pick next year.

I think we need 1) CB, 2) DT, 3) OL.

WR is WAAAAAY down the list for me.

That's not enough.  He can replace Chaisson, now we need someone to replace Smoot.  I've been hoping we would bring in Dupree.

Agreed.

Draft CB, DT, WR...then backup Oline.

Ryan is familiar with Bud from last season.

Deebo pulled the same thing two years ago. Until I see it posted that we got Aiyuk this means nothing for the Jags.

Still want CB and DT with our first 3 picks either way.

It means something when TLaw started following him.  Every player Lawrence started following before FA started we signed, and they followed him back

We'll see.    My thinking is that there is no reason to get excited over something that might not happen.

Actually, I believe he would be redundant here. We have a couple receivers now that are faster and quicker. True, he had a breakout season last year. He also had his QB protected by a real good o-line. Also, he had Samuels opposite him. When either of those things were not present he looked to struggle. They NEED our pick, anyone's pick to select their LT's replacement as their QB is not that mobile. Also, to keep him they will have to pay a lot with a tight cap.

Brandon Aiyuk 5'11'' - 205lbs. - 4.5 40time - 1.52 10yd time
Zay Jones 6'2'' - 201lbs. - 4.45 40time - 1.51 10yd time
Christian Kirk 5'11'' 201lbs - 4.45 40time - 1.5010yd time

I also think Aiyuk would be too expensive, but that's the only reason I wouldn't want him.   I'd include Zay with any trade to them.

I think Aiyuk is more durable than Zay.  Also, as an overall receiver Aiyuk is better than Zay.  Younger as well.

For the right price Aiyuk would be an upgrade to Zay Jones, regardless of their 40 time.  imo
