Fix the O-Line!

I liked him coming out of college. Never seemed to find himself with the Jets though. Could just be an interesting camp body at this point is all. I like the fact that they're adding taller receiving options though. Should get Lawrence and Jones used to throwing 50/50 passes this summer with these guys trying to high point the hell out of the ball.

Not likely to make the team, but he is a big receiver with good speed. Best case is that he shines in the pre-season and beats out Cooks, Cephus, etc for the last receiving spot. His ceiling would be to be like LaQuan Treadwell who caught 33 passes in 2021 for the Jags. With the additions of Davis and Thomas Jr. and his not being good on special teams, I'd give him about a 5% chance of making the team.

Why?

6'3" 207 pounds ... runs a 4.38 (40).   former 2nd round pick that had Zach Wilson as his QB.   Then he went to the Steelers practice squad and didn't exactly have star studded QBs throwing to him there either.

This may be his issue (Quote from Jets HC) - “When you’re not one of the main three (wide receivers) you got to know all three spots, and you got to know them at a high level so you can step in and take advantage of all those opportunities.”

He was a free agent but I heard it only took a Jags 7th round pick in return to get him so yes, I'd say that's a great deal since 7th round picks rarely succeed !!!

Well, at first glance if you belive Thomas is a good selection in the first round, one would have to think Mims is definitely worth a shot.

Elijah Cooks       WR 6'4'' 208 4.50 1.62 (our next tallest receiver is quite a bit slower and not as quick)

I was looking at what we had behind our first 3 recievers last night. I was underwhelmed by the speed and quickness of our remaining options. It makes a lot of sense to give this guy a chance to turn it around here considering the QB play at his last stops.  That and between growing up in Daingerfield, Texas population 2500? Then going to Baylor in Waco, New York and Pittsburgh had to be quite the culture shock. (not to mention cold)  It would be a pretty good coupe for us to make this work out since he was a 2nd round pick originally. 

on the downside they did have to release receiver Kyric McGowan to make room. (oh the horror!)

Completely understand. He has to work his way into the #4 receiver spot since he is rumored to not be a special teams ace.  Still worth a shot. Minimum deal, no dead cap hit.
