Fred Taylor, Jimmy Smith, and Clyde Simmons
|
All 3 have been nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2025.
Last year Taylor was selected as a finalist. Simmons won’t go in as a Jaguars player but he was a huge part of that 1996 playoff team and would be nice to see him get some recognition. Taylor is on the cusp! We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Fred should get in this year. Glad to see Jimmy get some recognition. His talent and performance are most worthy. Clyde definitely left a mark on this franchise in those early years.

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.
The more this franchise presses on and struggles offensively, the more valuable and noteworthy guys like Taylor and Smith become to me as far as this franchise having luck, or, lack thereof, in recapturing the magic they had as players.

Let's not forget those guys were enabled by guys like Searcy, Widell, Boscelli, Colman ... this list goes on. I actually believe if we had guys like that our current skill players could achieve the similar results.

You are insinuating that Trevor and/or this coaching staff needs an all-pro staff to succeed. A good coaching staff would scheme up situations where a wide receiver was running wide open a couple of times a game with backup tackles like we see all to often from other teams.

Actually what I am saying is if we had an offensive line the rest of our current players are up to the task of making a pretty good run in the playoffs. All pro, well I really cannot remember anyone other than Bo making all pro. Memory could be wrong...

Our best lineman is an aging vet who we were damn lucky to get but not anywhere close to Boselli. After him are a right tackle who seems to have regressed to poor play, a perennially average at best left, a right guard who can't move anyone off the ball in either pass or run and a left guard who can't seem to run block anymore. Guys like Widell and Coleman who were pretty average in their time are miles ahead of Scherff and Robinson and Leon was also borderline great for a few years. The comparison between the late 90s line and the current one is Varsity high school to Pop Warner and we all know it man. That's why we pounded the table all off season to fix it. Falls under poor coaching and development once again.

Our offensive line coach is horrendous at motivating and scheme if the line has progressively gotten worse over three years.
