The ovepaid list

These are guys who aren't living up to their contracts

Trevor Lawrence: Bottom tier starting QB.  We watch him every week miss wide open throws. The fanboys gush every time he makes a great throw but he is just too inconsistent. He is the Turnover king that wasn't promised.

Hines-Allen:  He got paid and he is a mystery man.  He makes one or two splashy plays in some games but vanishes the rest.  He is no dominant edge Rusher.

Tyson Campbell:  He is good when healthy but he is rarely healthy. You can't be worth the money if you are always on the bench.

Walker: It is not his fault that he was drafted first overall but it makes me cringe when I see Hutchinson play.  Yes he has 5 sacks but they are more like a splash in the pan and not consistent play.  The Walker/Hines-Allen duo doesn't scare anyone.

Armstead:  He got paid and do not even know if he plays most games. I cannot think of one impact play he has made.

Gabe Davis:  He did catch 2 but has missed 3 or 4 tds this season. He got a pretty good contract considering his production.

ETN: He maybe still on his rookie deal but he has fallen off the rails this season.  He could be hitting 3rd string pretty soon.

Robinson: He is getting Paid over $20 million a year and looking average at best

Scherff: He sucks and not the player we thought we were getting when we signed him.

Baalke:  It is clear as day the cupboard is bare.  Walker is a good player but looking like a mistake vs hutch, the defense just doesn't haven enough talent.  There was a ton of money handed out to the QB, to Campbell and a few others that the smart people questioned.  All that money has us a 1-5 and getting embarrassed again on the national crowd.

Nielson: He can take his sleezy 70's porn stache somewhere else.   This is the worst defense in the league.  Players look out of position while having opponents wide open in the secondary.  The defensive line gets no pash rush so opponents have all day to throw. They primarily played this soft zone most of today that was just picked apart by the the rookie. This defensive scheme is a failure.

There is a bright side:  I am going to sleep in next Sunday so I don't spend my morning angry at this pathetic team.

Will say, out of the whole list (which I agree on), Armstead is by far the worst. He’s got to be the worst free agent picked up by this franchise since Hugh Douglas.

Any in season trades that make sense for the team this year? I know it won't happen before NE.

But if they go 1-2 over the next 3 games to be 2-7, it makes sense to maybe trade Kirk, ETN, and Cam to just next something from a team that needs to a plug a hole.

This was hilarious to watch. Really called out Devin Lloyd as one of the players not giving full effort. Basically said he's out of position, doesnt' know what he's doing, and is just jogging instead of running to make a play.

Lloyd is someone that should be cut for a player on the practice squad that will at least try.

I completely agree with this.

It's time to gut this experiment and embrace a true rebuild with a new front office on downwards to the janitors and lunch ladies.

Get what we can for any player on this team and accumulate draft capital to allow a competent GM to build this team from the trenches on both sides of the ball.

Kirk's contract makes him untradeable.   No one is going to pick up his massive contract for mediocre play.  ETN is hurt so he's got no trade value.  Cam is way overpaid and in the final year of his contract anyway.  Maybe you can get a 6th or 7th rounder for someone like Walker Little or something.

We're trash because we have bad O-Line and D-Line play.  But we have players that can still get things done.

Kirk isn't tradable.  What are we gonna get for him?  A 6th?  ETN we maybe get a 4th, if we're lucky?  Nobody is trading for Cam.

This is the roster.  This is the roster.  This.  Is.  The.  Roster.

We re-group with a better GM and HC that can develop what we have while picking up pieces that can do a better job of contributing.  This isn't a player failure.  It's a coaching and development failure.

Devin Lloyd is on a rookie deal and is way overpaid. He needs to sit, he's out of position far too often, not great in coverage and makes several mental errors to the point where I question his ability to understand and execute an NFL defense.

Ventrell Miller & Oluokun should be the starters. Have Muma rotate in if they need a breather occasionally. If Lloyd can bulk up a little bit and be more of a pass rusher only kind of guy I think that's his best bet to stick in the NFL but he just looks lost most weeks.
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

The only guy with any trade value is Cam Robinson and that would be to a playoff contender who is in desperate need for a left tackle. Since he won't be back next season, anyway, I'd try to get a 3rd rounder for him and then start Little. Will someone be willing to part with a 3rd rounder for Robinson? Highly unlikely, but teams have been known to do stupid things (trading for Watson,Wilson, etc and then paying them a fortune).

Cam merits a conditional 6th on the market. Why do you all so overvalue these mediocre players?

Yeah, you're not getting much for Cam given production and current contract status, but I would ship him at the deadline for whatever we can get if we drop any of the next 3 games which at this point feels like an absolute certainty.

I said Walker Little and Tugboat Hodges should've been starting two weeks ago. Need to see if they are on the roster next year. I also would've already flipped Anton to the left in preseason to see if we have that position locked down or we need to grab another one. Just so many opportunities to fix the line and protect Lawrence better and Baalke just seemed insistent that it not happen.

Im gonna add Devon Hamilton (7 tackles thru 6 games) to this list. RRH also has 7 but 2 of those are sacks.

Agreed.  Cam Robinson and Brandon Scherff are stinking the place up.

I'd be happy stockpiling a bunch of 6th and 7th round picks for most of our players.

Anything higher would be that much better.

Give the next GM a blank slate and lets fix this mess completely. Would also coincide very well with the stadium renovation timeline so it would be a great time to truly REBUILD - both literally and metaphorically.

For better or worse (worse IMO), the next GM will have to inherit Lawrence, Hines-Allen, and Campbell's contract, so it won't be a blank slate.
