I still like the OFFENSIVE roster

#1

QB...good
RB room...good
WR room...pretty good
TE room ... very good
Oline...currently league average

Yes...Trevor has good and bad plays (too many for my liking) but he's not an AVERAGE qb.   He's good enough to be the QB on a SB winning team.

The running back room has 3 RBs that could easily get 20 carries in a game.

The thing that keeps the WR room from being good, is 1) Gabe Davis not being healthy all season and 2) Kirk not being a true #1.   BTJ shouldn't be the most dangerous receiver the Jags have, but he is.  I like Washington...but he's also not a #1 or #2 receiver on a good team.

TE room.   I really like both Engram and Strange for different reasons.   TE room is strong.

We've all talked about the Oline not being physical enough to consistently open holes for RBs, or pass protect well against the better defenses in the league.

They've been above average this year...but I think we'll all agree that this season they need to upgrade from Brandon Scherff and maybe even draft our future center.

I like the offensive pieces.

Now...that DEFENSE doh...
The Other Jag Forum: Duval Football Fans.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude.   Next season I want him gone.

ZWR (upgrade Davis)

This team needs like 2 cbs. #3 gets hurt a lot. Maybe prince can turn into something. Still need to draft here. Also need to get something good at DT. Need another pass rusher too. Still could use help up the middle on the o-line

the biggest issue is our defense doesn't play well enough for the offence to get going. like look at KC, there Offence hasn't been good but the defense keeps them in until it's ,make or break time. going on 3 years now for them.

Mia Def gives up a Walkoff FG
CLV strange drops a TD to win game
Hou Defense gives up a walkoff TD
Packers Defense gives up alot of big plays and walkoff FG

if we have a average Def. we might be 4-4 right now or 5-3.

Prince looked awful yesterday unfortunately. Got smoked on the regular.
Neither he nor Brown could cover Doubs.

Silver lining is that Jarrion Jones has now played 2 consecutive top tier games at nickel.
He's going to be very good.

We're missing CB#2 and need 2 safeties.

Tyson's injury frequency is a concern - so need one quality depth piece there. Maybe just keep swinging on late rounders to compete with Brown for that job.

I think Parker Washington could replace Davis.

As for LT, I thought Little did a good job.  His PFF grade for yesterday wasn't good, but I thought he played well.

Different kinds of receivers, Washington is going to be the new Kirk IMO. We need to draft, trade for, or sign a free agent to be the WR2. Unfortunately it's going to be Gabe for another year at least.

What did you think of Little's performance yesterday?  You think he could be our starting LT moving forward?

I do and I wanted him to replace Cam last year; if it weren't for the $$$ I think Robinson is on the bench. The problem is both of them are in their last years, so who knows how we handle the offseason. I also thought Hodges played well, so that would be a nice thing to take into the offseason too.

PFF graded Hodges as poorly.  I didn't really pay attention to his play specifically, but there was not any glaring mistakes I noticed from him.  PFF can be fickle with their grading.

Yeah, the gave Little a 45 grade for pass blocking with no sacks and 95% efficiency by their own scale. If you don't hear their names then the linemen played fine.

Parker replaces Kirk (eventually)

He's not a Z receiver - he's a Y

You want a taller guy running those Z routes typically. Round peg , square hole , you could make him fit there but it a'int the right way to do it.

Little was giving up pressure yesterday and getting manhandled too often for my taste.

Trevor ended up on the turf twice due to Little getting beat.

Not terrible, but not good either.

Thanks for your response.  I like Parker, I think he's gonna be good for us.  I hate that we lost Kirk agian.  That's 2 seasons in a row without him for a lot of games.  It's a shame.  I hated seeing him in such pain after that collision with the CB and the ground.

I'd rather they keep playing Little and let Robinson back into the lineup.  I'd rather see if he can prove he's worth resigning, especially since it's apparent we're moving away from Robinson.

Yes, despite being beaten a few times yesterday, I want to see Little stay there for several games so we finally, really know if he's worth trying to keep or not.

I'm so tired of hearing about Trevor (especially) and the Offense... This Defense is [BLEEP] GOD AWFUL.... Far and away the worst Defense in the League. -623.3....

The next lowest Defense is the Panthers at -574.6

And before people try and bring it up on some dumb [BLEEP], there's 12 teams with a better Offensive grade than us on this list, but our Defense is far and away the worst.

We need an X and RG , otherwise we can win games with this offense

The D on the other hand might as well be blown up. Foye, Walker, Allen, Miller, Campbell

We need SIX new starters on Defense, its absolutely mental

Washington is Kirk's replacement. full stop.

If Washington was Gabe's replacement, why the fart would we bother signing Gabe with Washington already on the roster?

And to the OP, your takes on the WR room are not good, and that's enough to say about that.

Brian Thomas is the X. Why do we need another?

The current defense with a capable coordinator + a good CB#2 and two decent safeties would be solid.
Add a stud DT and it would be way better than solid.

A capable DC wouldn't be playing Armstead outside and he'd have a relatively sane method of rotating the 4 best IDL players. This guy's rotation chart looks like a Jackson Pollock painting.

A capable DC would likely have never moved Cisco to strong safety and would have started Jarrion Jones at nickel from the outset.
Jones has played great football at nickel the past two weeks.

I remember looking across our DL the other day on 3rd and 6 and #44 was on the freakin sideline.
What in the actual [BLEEP] is that about??

You need him to not be winded to support the run D once they convert a first down. DUH.
