2-6 and could be 2-9 by the Bye! What is the root cause?

There is a ton of blame that could and should be tossed around: Who is mostly at fault? Sure you could say a bunch of all of them but there is a root cause!
Do you blame Shad for keeping Baalke despite the fans protesting with clown faces at home games? Do you blame Baalke for the lack of talent acquisition? He chose Walker over Hutch, he chose not to address the offensive line outside of center last year, he signed some guys who are simply earning a paycheck right now. On the other hand, He is also the guy who drafted BJT and the guy who brought some of our best talent here. Do you blame Doug/Press for the poor offense's preparation? This team has looked lost at times this year. The offense is ranked 14th with yards but 21st with points. Also we have some garabe time yards added due to opponents playing prevent because we were getting blown out. Do you blame Nielson and the poor defense play? One of the worst defense's in the league. Opponent players running wide open. They can't play man or zone. The pass rush is really bi-polar. They will play a series that scares the hell out of the opposing QB's and then the next series the Opposing QB can take a nap in the pocket. Frustrating to watch. Do you blame the players? Players are professionals and regardless of coaching, should hold themselves to a standard of performance. We have a 6 figure QB, 6 figure DE, just traded our high priced Left tackle for peanunts, but it's not showing on the field. BJT looks to be in running for rookie of the year. The team just does not score points and the defense cannot make a stop when the game is on the line. Yes they all deserve blame for their part but it starts somewhere. Where do you think the root of the blame lies? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
The offense has stutter early in the season, but we've lost games because we have the worst pass defense in the league. And the Jags (other than Ventrell) are still horrible at tackling RBs, TEs and WRs.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude. Next season I want him gone.
Well I certainly hope we have a six figure QB. A QB making 99k wouldn’t be motivated
I blame Jaxson De Ville, that cat is dragging us down.

It is literally the worst defense in the league.
That should basically end the discussion, but it also took the offense four weeks to start linking together multiple quarters of decent execution. That slow start offensively was also an issue in giving up close, winnable games early on. So - Player performance and a defense lacking talent for the scheme are your biggest factors. But coaching has to be a close third because the player performance issues have lingered since last season and the unforced errors are still too high in number. That's a long time to not get more out of the players. I think Baalke is a minor factor due to the wrong acquisitions in the secondary primarily. I'm more concerned with Doug than Trent at this stage but there is nothing making me want to keep Trent around. Khan is fine. He hired football guys to handle the football stuff and challenged them to win now this season. They are failing him - so we'll find out soon enough what accountability he will wield. I hope he decides to go clean slate from the GM down In February. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Khan.
GMs- 1. Caldwell 1b- Coughlin 2. Baalke HCs- 1. Mularkey 2. Gus Bradley 3. Doug Marrone 4. Urban 5. Pederson All hires under Khan. Can’t look at this short sided, it’s been over a decade long of horrific hires. Outside of football he’s been an outstanding owner. He’s also not going anywhere so just need to pray the ball lands on our roulette # during the hiring process. Also, before the “GM makes the HC hires”. Go look at the urban and Doug press conferences when hired. Khan takes direct “credit” with his “I got it right this time” lines. It’s his call on the HC, bottom line. Always has been.
We've kinda already ran this rabbit trail a few times.
The blame is on our lack of identity. It's a systematic failure; we keep changing the guard, changing the scheme, changing the roster and the end result is consistenly inconsistent. We don't know who we are, or who we want to be, or how to realize the vision we might have. We don't get results, so we fire players, coaches, GMs, and start anew. With each reset we take a step back to attempt steps forward. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. We are competitive, but not winning. Is that a sign that we are close, or is it a sign that the decisionmakers are not quite good enough to get beyond poor results? Shad is going to have some tough choices ahead. We dont have a culture, which then defaults to a culture of losing.

We have a team designed for these skills, fire the coach and hire a new one with a completely different vision. New coach tries new scheme with a roster full of the wrong players. We fire those players that don’t fit the new scheme. Win 4 games fire that coach with a different vision. Rinse wash and repeat. I put all of this on the GM/coach relationship. Those two have got to have the same vision so the GM can get the right players to fit the coaches vision. Don Shula was the best coach I have seen that would alter his scheme to fit the talent on the team. Belichick is a close 2nd but after those two there is no one close.

Bear Bryant used to say he will beat you one week with his guys then next week beat you with your guys. (something like that) Also, Saban was a master at evolving his team over the years. Being an Auburn alumni I have been on the receiving end of those transitions and seen them up close...lol
A new broom always sweeps clean.
Nielsen and the defense are the biggest problem at the moment.
But Doug hired Nielsen, and Baalke picked the players Nielsen would have to work with. They need to go as well. Everyone out but Shad and the players, please.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
