Government officials do NOT like to be held accountable...........

Postmaster General Claps Hands Over Ears When Congressman Hits Him with Hard Questions

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy was trolled on social media for covering his ears like a toddler throwing a tantrum after being criticized for mismanaging the U.S. Postal Service.

The cringeworthy incident occurred Tuesday while Republican Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgia torched DeJoy during a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing titled “Oversight of the U.S. Postal Service.”
DeJoy was slammed for the USPS’s poor service and for reporting a staggering $9.5 billion loss this fiscal year. Next year, the agency is projected to lose $6.5 billion.

Someone explain to me how they lose that kind of money and do it year after year. I really don't get it.

Because they support the infrastructure to support an ever shrinking market of stamps and letters. If they operated like a public company, they would have ditched the stamp and letter biz a decade ago.

Louis De Joy is a Trump appointee.

We used to mail bill payments in every month, mostly because hubby didn't trust paying anything online, but started having to pay online because the payments weren't reaching the recipients more often than not. And it was really random as to who wouldn't get the payments. So I took over bill paying and it's all online and nothing is ever late.

We (and many in our area) also have issues with mail carriers not delivering our mail to our address which is a huge problem for our side business when clients mail payments to us, specifically the monthly ones from businesses who you can't simply call and to say we never received payment. There is a process that takes forever and it sucks.

One of these businesses offers a direct deposit payment but it goes 35 days, not 30 days as per our contracted agreement for payment, plus it would cost us. A bunch of crap if you ask me.

Anyway, the USPS should be required to restructure before they see anymore bailouts from the government. But good luck with that.

I don’t know this for a fact, but a coworker, whose wife has worked with the post office for many years, says they are so behind budget because by law they have to pay their pension and other benefits upfront before operational costs are taken out.

That is part of the story.  Congress deliberately handicapped them this way like 30 years ago.  It was done because UPS and FedEx lobbyists asked for it.  Every now and then those lobbyists try to get Congress to kneecap the postal service even more.
