Jacksonville Jaguars @Jaguars
HC Gus Bradley also said last night was Luke Joeckel's best game as a #Jaguar.

*Luke Joeckel drew Bradley’s praise last night and again today. “He really did a nice job,” Bradley said. “I think it was Luke’s most physical game that he’s played here. … He’s on it now. That part of his game has really picked up.”

<p class="">Gus praising Joeckel again like he did last night. Translation: Building him up because he might have to play LT in Week 1.

He's played well. But can we say he's been seriously tested in these two preseason games?

Ayers is no slouch. And neither is anyone on the Jets DL. He's definitely stopped his game way up. Still think healthy Beachum is the better tackle though

If Beachum wants to start on opening day, I would think at the very least he needs to play against the Bengals.

I can't stand Ryan O.

If not at tackle then maybe guard. He seems to be our most active blocker on running plays. I take these preseason performances with a grain of salt. There will be much better rushers come the regular season. He looks good though for preseason, whatever that entails.

No pain, no gain.

I agree with this, but it's a good thing that Joeckel isn't just handing Beachum the starting spot at LT.

I'm glad luke has gotten a fire lit under him. But does anyone else think that being complimented as having your best professional game in preseason is kind of an indictment on your performance?

I guess better late than never...

Especially when the 'game' lasted about 2 quarters. In preseason. I lol'd. Gus is either being candid or cunning. I fear the former.

It was my understanding Luke had problems against speed rushers. Has he faced any established speed rushers thus far in the preseason? To me, that would be the best indicator on how far he has come.

I didn't see the Jets game but I did watch the bucs game. I thought the Jets had more power rushers than anything else.

He also had problems against a bull rush by kind of "flinching" which caused him to lose his base and get pushed back. Doesn't look like he's had that problem so far.

If he is that good, and Beachum is as advertised, this will be a nice problem to have.

This has to be the best offseason surprise so far. Blake has been standing in the pocket all day.

Agreed. I was worried about OL but we've faced two pretty good DL's and Bortles has been hit once by Leonard Williams. And that was without Linder. The line looked very good with Linder in there. I almost wonder if Blake needs to get used to a better line and will be a little antsy since he's so used to getting hit.

I think he'll be fine. I almost welcome his antsyness because of how well he improvises when he leaves the pocket.

Where does it say his best professional game? That's not what Bradley said.

Quote:You missed the point there. When he said "good tackle", he was referring to Beachum.

Bradley said it's his most physical game since he's been here.

I'm inferring, but there's only a few ways to take this type of praise.

How do you take what Bradley said?

Um, that it was his most physical game since he's been here.
