He wasn't bad last year. I'd start him over Kap. Played better than he ever did here.

lol. How perceptions change based on the franchise being covered. He is still the same bust QB we traded away. Has he gotten better? Sure. Is he any good yet? Not even close. Who knows, maybe he will be the next Alex Smith.

Nope
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Gabbert has always been able to throw quickly to a spot. Since this will be his primary role under Chip Kelly, he has a chance to do well. Still, the problem remains that if he has to tuck the ball and make things happen, he's absolute garbage... that is, unless he can find a bit of a running lane as he does have decent flat-line speed. The bottom line is he has no pocket presence.

eva eva?

Kap torched the Pack in the playoffs that one year he played really really well.

I don't like Kap and think he'll be an awful QB like RG3 for years to come...

but I wouldn't say Gabbert has ever come close to a season like that.

That being said, I do think Gabs is in a good place now where he can maybe make a journeyman Fitzpatrick career for himself. Solid seasons that always has him as a solid #2 but fringe starter. Kid had to grow up a bit....

Then again... Chip's system is awful lol

Good.  You keep using that word.  I do not think it means what you think it means.

I never meant to imply Gabs was better than that season. Just that he's playing better in SF than he ever did here in Jax. Outside of maybe a game or two.

Things that saddened me about Gabbert: getting excited when he threw for 200 yards in a game....which he only did 7 times in 3 years.

...It did it again!  The TARDIS took me to an alternate universe again.  One where Blaine Gabbert is a good QB, and nobody knows who the heck Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, or Tom Brady are.  Next you'll tell me that pigs can fly, and Donald Trump could be President.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

This ^^^

Gabbert struggled to get us past mid-field.

Also, in line with what Jags02 stated above, the only way Gabbert was effective was getting rid of the ball in less than 3 seconds and throwing a safe timing route of 6 yards or less.  Unfortunately opposing teams catch on to this very quickly.
