So is LG a concern?

It's likely gonna be Joeckel or Bernadeau?

Honestly no. Does Joeckel suck....yep. Is he the worst in the league...no

With all the fire power we have on offense, his play will be camouflaged. Blake can move the pocket when necessary.

Linder will anchor that line just watch and see. The entire line as a group is already better than it was last season.

I repeat....our OLine is better right now than compared to last year.

LG is usually quality stuff, though I prefer Samsung.

I thought I saw Cann was starting at RG? Could be wrong though but if he is with him and Parnell on the right and Beach and Bern on the left...i feel like running right will be occurring alot!

With Linder at Center and Cann at right guard. I can only assume left guard goes to Bernadeau or whomever loses out at the left tackle position. I still think even if Beachum comes in and wins the job over Joeckel that they will still try to find a way to get him on the field. He could end up pushing Parnell from the right tackle position before it's all said and done. Which isn't great but it's not bad either.

Joekel and Parnell both stand 6'6". I just don't see anyone this tall getting leverage inside in the trenches.

I can see Bernadeau starting the season at LG because he has the experience, but he's old wherein I can totally see someone younger supplanting him by mid-season. Has everyone given up on Shatley?

Well you are going to hate 6'6" Linder at Center then.

You know... this might sound crazy, but some of you may recall how the Jaguars successfully moved Drew Nowak from the DL to a G position. Drew was starting games last year for the Seahawks, and is on this Chiefs roster this year having developed quite an impressive rep at the position. Knowing that the Jaguars defensive front is so crowded this year, maybe one of them can move over to G. Sen'Derrick Marks, for instance, just might make for one heck of a nasty G, and I bet he'd excel as the starter at LG.

There might even be an option for a younger DT. I've witnessed Richard Ash being blown backwards so I won't include him as option, but what about Sheldon Day or Michael Bennett? Or considering he's already worked a little with the offense, maybe they can give Alualu a crack at possibly actually earning his status as a first round draft pick in a new role. ....or, for that matter, TE Nic Jacobs might be able to play a little LG in a clinch.

There are exceptions to every rule. Fortunately for the Jaguars, Bortles is tall.

I could see Shatley taking over the LG spot. The staff seems to really like him and Bernadeau has experience and will probably start unless Shatley flat out wins the job, which really isn't too big of a stretch. Only 19 more days till we find out in camp!

IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Brunell at 6'1" did ok behind a 6'7" Dave Widell at Center.

I also recall Brunell throwing from outside the pocket more than most qbs.

To be honest, I think the entire left side is a concern.

Tentatively, we are talking about a LT that is new to the system coming off a torn ACL last October/November, and our old LT who had problems with power, moving inside and being asked to block bigger and more powerful guys than he did at LT.  We have Linder at C, who is new to the position and coming off an injury.  The majority of fans (me included) believe Linder is a quality OL when healthy, but he's still an unknown at C.

I think in a best case scenario, Beachum shows no ill effects from his ACL and plays as well as he did in Pittsburgh or better, Joeckel's power improves from last year, and whatever remaining power deficiencies he may have is offset by quicker feet, Linder transitions seamlessly into C, Cann continues his level of play from last year, while Parnell improves in pass protection.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Yes. left guard is probably the only position which concerns me. Fortunately, this is a position in which a team can afford to have a below average player as long as the rest of the line plays well. I do expect the o. line to be the team's weak spot for the first half of the season until the new starting unit has time to jell. In the long term, Linder and Cann should be very reliable as will a healthy Beachum. Parnell is average so I do expect Caldwell to utilize next year's draft and free agency to upgrade the offensive line.

I still believe the LT position is more of a concern than LG. There are four very capable guys who could excel at LG, not true for LT. I know it was just underwear practice, but Luke Joeckel was actually impressive at LG. It plays more so to his strengths, regardless of his height.

With the players we have that will be competing for the position, yes I think it'll be a weak spot. The offensive line is my biggest worry on the team.
