Other than one American swimmer costing himself millions in otherwise-guaranteed endorsements, USA fared pretty well as a country. The real winner was Brazil - overcoming a terrible preconception to make it all look good - though the cost (13 billion $$$ or so) will probably never be recouped.

Hope Solo came out a big loser considering her pre-Olympic tweets.

 

Ever notice the anti-Brazil rhetoric was generated by ESPN (owned by ABC).   Oh, NBC just happened to own the TV rights to the Olympics.

As bad as conditions may or may not have been in Rio, I doubt any of the athletes wish they hadn't been there. There were some memorable moments..
