I wonder if the failed physical designation for release is due to his previous knee injury(s), or something else?

I would consider that an insult to Blackmon.  At least Blackmon showed signs of being a potentially dominant WR.

He tore up his shoulder right after his first camp and though he played through he's never recovered from it. I wouldn't be shocked to hear that his drug problems were related.
