No respect from national publications

People still read those? I thought all of the publications died with the coming of the internet age.

19 wins in the last 5 seasons...of course they have no respect for us.

This team seems good on paper, but hasn't prove anything on the field for now.

Quote:Except for the texans the rest of the division struggled with those things, too. The titans had 3 more sacks as a team than us, the colts had 1 less. The titans gave 54 sacks, the jaguars gave up 51, and the texans and colts both gave up in the upper 30s. The best team in the league only gave up 18. The division as a whole had poor pass protection and except for the texans no one made a lot more sacks, either.

Like I said, the Jaguars had their problems, but they were they really 2-4 in the division bad, talent wise?
Great, the only team that had comparable problems on both sides of the ball was a team that lost two more games than we did.

Thanks for proving my point.

Yes, Knarnn, people still read those.

It's good to have different perspectives, etc., and not everyone has roving internet with them at all times.  (I despise cell phones).

The colts won three more games than the Jaguars with a backup QB and only so-so pass protection.

If you're looking for excuses they're easy to find, but I don't think there was a level of talent difference in the division that excuses the Jaguars' performance.

With a back up QB that actually played better than their starting QB.

You are the one making excuses for the lack of talent. Even the GM admitted there was a talent issue and beefed up both lines during the off season.

It's safe to say a lack of talent won't be an issue this year.

Is there a hole or two on the roster?

Yes.  But not nearly like it was the first 2-3 years here.

Whether you think Bradley was unfairly hamstrung by his roster before or not, I cannot see that as likely being a plausible explanation for a lack of success this year.

Teams that go 4-12, 3-13 and 5-11 don't deserve any respect. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Respect is earned on the field, not in off-season.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

C'mon Jags...yep.

As giddy as we are about the recent drafts, we still have to prove it on the field.

Good .. the last thing we need is to believe any hype.

We have to stop losing to 'the oldest tricks in the book', and start stealing a few wins of our own with the ole' this or that..

Vegas et al recognize the difference between 6-10 and 9-7 is very often only a few plays properly executed on O, or defensed on D.  For too long now we have lost in situations where the Win should have been ours save for a coaching error, or an unrecognized mismatch on the field.  Unless and until we can put games out of reach to a bad ref call, crummy 4 and go play, etc. we will underperform our potential.

When you are denying what even the GM admitted was the main problem, you are excusing it.

They're definitely dying, but I still try to pick up a couple every year. I do the same thing with the draft previews. They're always interesting to look back on and see the predictions and info for different teams and players. I'm pretty sure my dad has ones from the mid 90s still lying around his house.

So you expected Dave to come out and say "Yeah, the guy we're keeping for one more year didn't do a good enough job." Is that right?

Unless you are the Cowboys or another large market team.

Most of the national rags look at the immediate past to inform their predictions rather than current potential, so it's really no big surprise.  Let's face it, we've been pretty bad since 2010.  Once we get the breakthrough season we'll see this year, we'll start getting more meaningless respect from the so-called "prognosticators of the pigskin".  Don't sweat it.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

No, I would expect Dave to not keep him in the first place if he thought he wasn't doing a good enough job.

So you really think Dave would have given an extension and then thrown himself under the bus for a coach he thought wasn't doing a good enough job? That has to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
