Will be interesting to watch him in that role.

Seems the Jags are getting creative to keep him on the roster. With Skuta and Davis playing this new "LOTTO" position, it wouldn't surprise me if the Jags kept two LEOs (Fowler and Ngakoue) who will couple with Skuta, Davis, and Holmes.

"Lotto"?

Good glob, can we please stop with the nonsensical made-up position names? How about we just call him what he is: a 3-4 OLB.

But its not special if you dont use creative names. With the names its special in how bad it is.

Our free safety position is now the "CHERRY", because it's on top.

The defensive backs are now the "SPRINKLES". We'll call it the 31 defense. It'll be a thing.

Love the comment about him not being able to catch Corey Grant. Now that's respect for Grant's pure speed. I can't wait to see what he's got in him after missing last season on IR.

Could this move hurt Tripp's chances of making the team??

I doubt it. Tripp can play either Mike or the Will (43 MLB or 43 OLB for TJ Bender).

I hope we hit the Lotto with Ryan Davis.

Anything that gets Ryan more snaps, I'm all for.

I'm likely in the minority here, but believe Davis will be a liability in some important aspects of the LB "Lotto" position.  He's too slow to cover effectively, and range will probably be an issue also.  The Jags pre-draft stated they would like to get faster on defense; this move is a negative to that stated goal.  I am not sure Davis makes the roster this year, as he isn't good enough to be a Leo and being displaced in his previous inside lightning role.

Finding ways to let Ryan Davis attempt to make a play on the ball is still a good idea.  He's shown a knack for sniffing out plays and just plain hustling - and that makes a worth a try.  With the interior D-Line being flush with 3rd down blitzers on the depth chart  -- they needed to find a role for the guy.

Situational 3-4 OLB sounds like a good idea on paper.  Hopefully he adapts well to the position and doesn't get stuck having to drop in coverage very often. (Yes, the pass coverage part could be his undoing)

I'm just glad that we won't have to try to make him a part-time LEO now that we have two young players better suited to the position.
