Can Cook make up lost ground?
|
Dalvin Cook has his pro-day tomorrow and a chance to make up for his disappointing Combine performance.
But can he leap back into the conversation to be the number one back in this draft? It would be tempting to say "it doesn't matter, teams already have lots of film on him and will have done some research into his character, so they will have made up their minds." But these pro days must count for something - otherwise they wouldn't hold them and NFL teams wouldn't send teams to see them... We show less advertisements to registered users. Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Numbers are almost always better at pro days. It will be doubly concerning about his athleticism if they aren't.
He still has major injuries, character, and fumbling concerns too so it's still a hard pass at 35 for me. He ended up standing on his combine numbers and will only participate in position drills today. I'd probably say his ceiling right now is Oakland at 24, but could be there at our 2nd pick. If we're going to take a guy with character concerns though, I'd rather have Mixon I think.
Never mind, they misspoke, guess he is doing stuff. Supposedly got a 4.39 40

Boards are pretty much set.
The only thing that changes is the reveal as the fans and prognosticators find out where they're truly ranked/rated by the real scouts and GMs.

Quote:Boards are pretty much set.Yes. It will be interesting to see what little "leaks" and rumors get circulated in the next week or two that shake up the fans' and talking heads' boards.
It also looks like the FSU media dude with the iphone stopwatch was off on the 40 too.

You watch his tapes and he's blowing away everyone on the field with his speed. I'm not too worried that his 40-time is Yeldon-like.

Quote:4.5s on first run and mid 4.4s on second run. Speed is not an issue. The long speed is good enough, however the sub 10th percentile 3 cone, jumps, and shuttles are not. Quote:The long speed is good enough, however the sub 10th percentile 3 cone, jumps, and shuttles are not. They must have fudge his college numbers since his 3-cone is so bad. There's no way he JUKED his way to 4464 rushing yards. Oh wait he did. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I wouldn't be mad at all with Cook in the 2nd round.
Dream is Thomas in the 1st and Cook in the 2nd. Quote:I wouldn't be mad at all with Cook in the 2nd round. That would have me as excited as last year's draft with Ramsey and Jack. Quote:I wouldn't be mad at all with Cook in the 2nd round. wouldnt be mad at that at all. cook is getting seriously devalued because of the people that put TOO much stock into the combine numbers. theyre a good tool to put the finer touches on your tiers, but body of work is what the bulk of your value should depend on.
