Great marketing plan for the Jags.

#1

Now dont get me wrong. All these players are great in their own right.

However if you were trying to gain more revenue to keep a team in Jax.

You would want the Gators The Seminoles and Central Florida fans to come to the games.

So grabbing Fowler, Bortles, and now Ramsey. Is genius work by Dave and Khan.

And will keep the Jags in Jacksonville for many years to come.

With a state of the art stadium and Home State Players. To cheer for on Sundays. Its a great time to be a Jags fan!

And next come a bunch of 500 to playoff bound seasons.

Khan and the staff are doing all the right things!

Loving the New Jags 2016!

They are not drafting players based on where they go, they are drafting them best on bap and position needs.

Which happen to be in the areas to create revenue as well. So a win win.

So it's not really a genius plan by Caldwell. It's lucky.

Another great thread btw.

Ya know. Tebow was not the right fit due to our scheme. When tebow was drafted our line was built as a run blocking scheme.

And a mobile option qb. Would of been injured by game three. We had no players to put around tebow for him to excel.

And remember we made a play for him he chose to go to the jets. Just like this year that DE chose to go to the giants.

This smacks of Tebow-itis.

Those players selected, Smith, Greene, Fowler, Bortles, Evans from those schools were the best athletes on the board.

It's players, not schools. It is not nor has it ever been about the college game.

When they have no time,  they think about it!

When they go down hard, they think about it!

Just watch Peyton, Andrew, Caep even Mr. Bundchen.

Well it was a gamble he took that he won three times.

He would be a millionaire in WSOP thats for sure.

It's more like a happy accident for us.  The best available players happened to be from local schools. But the emphasis is on the best available players - first and foremost.

While this is true. It is alot easier for scouts to travel in state and get a birds eye view several times during the year. Then traveling cross country to watch the players.

Which pick was a gamble exactly? The top rated QB? The top rated pass rusher? or the top rated defensive player?

Bosa was the top D player. Bortles was not seen as the top Qb and nor was Fowler as the best D.

Stop drawing at straws just to argue. Come with substance. And not just for sake of arguement.

And go back to board. And show me anyone who saw us picking Bortles. Sides maybe one or two.

Who was the top pass rusher last year instead of Fowler? And Ramsey wasn't the top D player for a lot of teams? And Bortles wasn't the #1 QB on some teams boards?

It's not a gamble to take Fowler or Ramsey. Not sure how anyone in their mind can see this as a gamble.

On this board. Hardly anyone was talking about us picking Bortles.

As I recall, Bortles moved up quickly as the draft approached. So picking him wasn't much of a surprise.

Dude, get out of the Orange Kool-Aid and realize this is the Pro's

Yes the state of Florida is a fertile ground for football players.

But don't forget. 24 players were drafted from those 06-09 teams.

Tebow was the first first rounder out of the league. 17 of those drafted are still in the league.

Bortles was the ultimate smoke screen.
