Jayron Kearse, S, Clemson

He is a ballhawk, almost looks better than Ramsey as far as a Safety prospect.

What are peoples thoughts on him if he's available at our second round pick?

We have Tashaun Gipson at FS and he's going to be our FS for the long haul most likely. Cyp/Sample should be good to hold down SS, Cyp should be much improved with a safety like that next to him that can hide his coverage woes.

Think CB/DT(due to value)/Edge Rusher/IOL/OLB are the most likely possibilities in the 2nd.

Would be a luxury pick. If he's indeed a ballhawk, he'll be backing up Gipson. If he's more of a strong safety, he'll be competing with Sample/Cyp.

Well from what I saw he is also a great tackler unlike Cyp. So its a possibility to have a solidified defensive backs group for many years, I dont see that as a luxury but as a want and a need.

It's not that Cyp can't tackle or hit...he just plays out of position a lot.

Sample was a 4th round pick last year and has all the looks to be a very solid SS prospect. No reason to do so.

Cyp has been below average thus far, but let's see him and Sample battle it out, and if he does win, let's see what he can do with a good FS next to him...which is vital in this defense.

Not a Kearse fan. TJ Green on the other hand...

TJ is a Wide Receiver no? For the same team?

Glock you just have something against me because of my own opinion on Jack & Buckner.

I dont see why anyone is putting faith in Sample when we don't even know if he would be good. Hey if you guys dont want a hard hitting safety that can play well against the run and cover thats your choice.

Pass. His coverage is suspect and that's the last thing we need

Green is a Safety that may play CB at the next level. A lot of raw potential. Will be a Jaguar in a week.

Why do people keep saying this about a guy who hardly played before hitting IR? Is it because his name isn't Cyprien?

So because he hit IR we should just forget about him? Is that what you're saying?

Go watch what he did in college and tell me he can't be the starting SS. The guy has a lot of potential.

Really, counting on Cyp would be the worst idea.

Honestly have no idea how James Sample is going to perform. All I know is that he looks physically imposing at SS (but so does Cyp). I hope he surprises us all and plays out of his mind.

Exactly.

So, the argument here is we should draft a SS who hasn't played a snap in the NFL, and toss Sample to the side because he was hurt and didn't play last year. Makes PERFECT sense.
