Updated version of our Core Players

#1

On offense we have:

Bortles

Cann

Linder

Yeldon

Hurns

Robinson

Thomas

Hopefully Caldwell will draft a center.

Here is the defense:

Smith

Fowler

Jackson

Gipson

Odrick

Hoping to get a CB, LB, and another DE in the draft.

That's 12 core players, with at least 3 more coming via the draft.

Man I can't wait for this season to get under way.

What's your criteria for a player to be considered a core player? For discussion's sake just curious.

Offensively, I'll say : Bortles, Robinson, Hurns, Linder & Cann.

Defensively, Smith, House(as a #2 CB), Gipson, Jackson. Until Fowler actually plays, I can't consider him one. I'm on the fence about Colvin, mainly because the suspension has soured my view of him. Marks used to be a core player, but I don't think he will ever return to 2013&2014 form.

I'm sure everybody has their own criteria. But I consider a core player; a player that can give us 5 years or more. But on the flip side, we aren't looking to upgrade them within that span. Obviously they would need to be a starter.

Colvin and House in my opinion aren't core players.

Marks is a core player, and I'd say Miller is too. Poz as well, he is older but still a impact player on defense.

Both Marks and Poz have 2 good years left in them. I wouldn't consider them core players. At this point in their careers, they are key veterans that can still get it done on the back end of their careers.

It just shows this team is ready to be in the playoffs each year like the Packers, Colts, and Patriots of the NFL.

After this year's draft, the pieces will start falling in place.

I think Caldwell may be looking at Graham Glasgow in possibly RD3 or RD4. Could be a solid Center for us with maybe just a year to get stronger while Cann or Bernadeau work the middle in 2016.

Marks is only 29... it's not far fetched to see him play another 5 years at all.

Offense - Bortles , Linder, Arob , Julius Thomas

Defense - Telvin , Malik Jackson , Gipson

These are our true "premier" players  IMO.

Honorable mentions to Hurns, Colvin, Marks , Yeldon , Cann and House. These are the good and young but not quite there yet players.

Side-note - Though most would consider all of these core players nearly all of them have missed major playtime due to injury.
