Julian Edelman recently found a video game he had rented and forgot to return from 2004, Blockbuster will probably want a million dollars for it.

I feel horrible that my children will never have the privilege of going to a movie store on a Friday night and realizing the movie they want is all gone, then I tell them to go wait by the return bin and watch their faces light up like Christmas morning when someone returns the movie they want.

 

Digital is great, but man... I miss the "good old days".

They are. There's still like 50 stores left but they are owned and operated by Dish network.

Nothing beats a good ole dvd. I agree. Just going into a movie store and looking around, finding something you weren't looking for but haven't seen in forever. Those are the days. Usually if I want to watch an older movie and can't find it on Netflix etc. I'll go to Hastings and look in their used movie section and get it for a couple of bucks.

Yes! Be Kind, Rewind! That was so annoying. Kids don't know the real struggle of rewinding or fast forwarding on a VHS! There wasn't any skipping forward chapters, which I thought was unreal when DVD players came out. Do you remember the laser discs that were the size of a small pizza they used to show educational movies on in school? Crazy.

I loved going to the video store. Usually it was to rent a video game, but horror movie night was awesome. At my age, I caught the tail end of VHS and the transition to DVD.

My first DVD I bought was From Dusk til Dawn. Such a great movie, one of my faves. I was like a junior or senior in high school when DVDs started coming out. I remember my little brother wearing the Jurassic Park VHS onion skin thin from watching it so much.

We use to stack vcr tapes like castles use them to create miny golf courses an so much more lol I miss the 90s

LOL.. I bought what I thought was "Mystery, Alaska" from the used bin.  Got it home and the knuckleheads had put "Mystery Men" in the case.

 

Going waaaay back, you could even rent VHS decks.  At the grocery store.

 

Beta, VHS, and... the hold grail... VideoDisc/LaserDisc.

i agree. Growing up me and my friends would go to Blockbuster every Friday night. We'd get a game, a movie, some candy, and soda and have the a heck of a night. Good ole days indeed.
