Root AGAINST Cleveland

#1

Not that I think the Browns will be this huge threat to Jaguars dominance in the years to come.  They have the look of an imploding team still yearning for managerial and coaching stability.

However, they have something they could do, that, in the interim, could throw a major wrench into the Jaguars draft hopes.

Namely, that something is pull off a trade for Colin Kaepernick.

Right now, most of the mock drafts show Cleveland taking a QB at 2.

If they were to acquire Kaepernick via trade, that may encourage them to go in a different direction at 2.  To me, that would immediately mean they would go after one of the stud defenders on the board.

I would hope that person would be Buckner.  But even a Browns selection of Buckner at 2 may pose problems for the Jaguars in the draft, because that would be one less defender on the board for San Diego or Dallas to take, which means Mack and Ramsey could both be off the board by 5.

Considering the Browns have a multitude of needs,  if they decide not to draft a QB at # 2,  they should seriously consider trying to trade down with a team that would take a QB at # 2.

Yea i was thinking about this earlier, they might not be sold on any of these QB's, I'm certainly not. I like D6's idea, trading down might be the best course of action for them considering all of their needs.

Of course, there is also the possibility that no team within realistic shot of trading up to 2 is impressed by either of the QBs currently speculated to go in the top 10, so any trade down by Cleveland could be to a team wanting one of these defenders.

One thing the Browns will need to do under this scenario is create the perception that there's competition for trading up to # 2.   It might be easier said than done.  Yet,  they are in a position that drafting one player ( non QB ),  even if he's All Pro caliber,  will hardly even put a dent on their overall roster situation.

That definitely could happen.  More often than not though,  teams are reluctant to trade all the way up to # 2 unless there's a QB they like.   Either way from their standpoint if they are taking a sensible approach,  the Browns need to create the perception of demand for the pick.

IF the browns trade for Kap. This may be a good spot to swap firsts with Cleveland. Move up three, get our choice.

Alex Mack came out and said it was hard leaving Cleveland and probably Jared Goff...I think that shows what is going to likely happen in Cleveland.

Not a bad idea depending on what it will cost

Tunsil, Ramsey, Bosa & Jack seem like tier 1 right now. If that's the case and no QB jumps out to any of the top teams then we'll miss out on one of them. In that case do we take Buckner/Hargreaves/Floyd (or someone else) or do we try and trade down?

For me, I think I consider Stanley, failing that, try to trade down.

We have to throw in another pick. But if Cleveland is interested in QB in top 5. THeres a VERY good chance thier QB is still there at 5. trade down 3 picks. Pick up an extra 4-5(terrible at these things) and still get thier QB

Seriously. Dumbest thing I've heard outside of drafting a kicker.

There will be a stud there at 5. We need to keep all our picks and can't be giving up our 2nd round pick just to move up to 2.

No way. Can't risk him getting picked before the 3rd. Better pull the trigger in the second.

The way Cleveland is negotiating in FA, I don't know if their front office knows how to trade for Kaep.

I'd rather get that "guaranteed" Stud and give up a 3rd, then be stuck with the scraps. IF you want your man. You get em.
