Two Starting Safeties

#1

Say we were to sign two starting safeties in free agency, who would be your choice? Who would be a good fit for our defense, and a good fit with each other?

I don't think this scenario is all that outlandish, and would allow us to focus on the front 7 at pick 5.

Who ya got?

Gipson and Iloka. Saftey position set for years to come.

They seem to like Sample so he and Cyprien will compete and Sample wins. Bring in Weddle or Gipson ans then draft someone to replace down the road.

I would say use FA and draft. Gipson FS and Joseph SS. We then have Ed Reed version 2 and Sean Taylor version 2! Smile

I like the idea of Rodney McLeod and Geore Iloka. While they aren't world beaters, I think it's the best FS - SS combination you could get. I feel like you could swap Gipson with McLeod there, but you'd want to know why this was such a down season for him.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

I wouldn't give up on Sample yet. Even if Cyprien is no longer in their long term plans, they don't need to pay big money to sign a strong safety in free agency. Would rather take the best available corner in addition to free safety. Sean Smith would be the most likely since Johnson and Jenkins will be brought back to St. Louis.

I think Sample will beat out Cyp in a camp battle. But I wouldn't complain about bringing in a true upgrade in Iloka. Iloka would give you that versatility of playing either close to the line or playing deep middle.

For trying to win now...Eric Weddle and Kam Chancellor (not a free agent but trade as rumored).

Long term starters... Gipson and Iloka

But I think Ramsey at FS and Cyp at SS is the best option all the way around.
