How good would this secondary be in comparison to the rest of the league?

CB1: Sean Smith

CB2: Davon House

CB3: Aaron Colvin

SS: Jalen Ramsey

FS: Eric Weddle

I don't know but Weddle is going to ring chase and Ramsey wouldn't play SS here.

I'd be cool with:

CB1: Sean Smith

CB2: Devon House

CB3: Aaron Colvin

SS: Jonathan Cyprien/James Sample

FS: Karl Joseph

Why wouldn't Ramsey play strong safety here? This isn't basketball, I highly doubt Weddle is giving up money to ring chase.

Ramsey wouldn't play SS. He is either a CB or a FS.

If we draft Ramsey, we will use him like Earl Thomas.

Sean Smith would probably be a CB2 not a 1.

House would still follow the best WR where ever he lines up.

Sean Smith is better than House. Ramsey basically played box safety at FSU most of the time in '14. I don't understand why he couldn't play SS here.

Bc he has the skill set to play FS in Bradley's wierd defense.

That's debatable. Smith would struggle against guys like Kendall Wright but would match up well with Hopkins.

But I have Weddle at FS.

If Weddle comes to Jax then Ramsey would be your CB1 and House or Smith Battle it out for the #2 spot.

Ramsey would play safety.

If we signed both weddle and smith we wouldn't draft Ramsey in my opinion.

Once again, for some reason you guys on here think Ramsey can't play strong safety when he played more box safety than free safety at FSU. Signing Weddle and Smith will not stop us from drafting Ramsey.

And for some reason, you think Dave is going to draft Ramsey to play SS when he has Cyp and Sample on the roster. Every inclination is they are going to give those two a chance at battling it out.

Also, I would much rather worry about fixing the front 7 then spending that many resources on the secondary. You fix the front 7, and the secondary will fall into place.

Once Caldwell stated finding a FS is as hard as finding good a QB, that pretty much says we will draft Ramsey to play FS with the 5th overall pick.

This line of thought is like taking the stickers off of a Rubik's cube and never actually solving it.

But it makes more sense than drafting a SS at 5 when you have much greater needs.

Weddle playing FS next year doesn't mean that Ramsey doesn't see the field and be the FS in the future.

How good any secondary you dream up is going to be highly dependent upon how the pass rush is addressed in free agency and/or the draft.  Any secondary would stink with the pass rush the Jags had this past season.  Mediocre QBs looked like All-Pros when they have all day to throw.
