Crystal Ball

#1

Channeling my inner Mrs. Cleo (a TV so called psychic and shaman), as I think about the upcoming 2016 season for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Is this the final year of HC Gus Bradley as we (fans) wait for the jumping of the shark episode (gimmick in an attempt to keep viewers' interest a TV retro reference), after he gave his close friend & former boss the Ax (a reference to being fired that is funny because of former HC JDR's chopping wood stunt which resulted in an injury in the locker room)?

Or did Gus realize that it is best to mix business with personal, and by firing Babich he can improve the Defense like he did the Offense with the hiring of Olson as the OC? What if any input did OL/Ast HC Marrone provide Gus in making the 'tough choice' of letting Babich go? The Jaguars Defense has been horrible for 3 years (against the pass), but was that solely Babich's fault whom was running Gus Bradley's (Stop the run-46 bear/cover 3 high safety) scheme despite not having the personnel (FS/LEO) to perform it?

I assume that Gus Bradley will hire a DC that will keep the play calling responsibilities (if for no other reason than to have an excuse if the team fails again- if not to Caldwell to other potential teams that might hire him down the road).

The key thing is they need that true speed coverage Single High Cover 3 safety whom most think Jalen would fit that role in this upcoming draft (but will he be there at pick 5), or maybe they sign a free agent like Eric from KC for the role and draft another pass rusher to compete for the Leo role as Chris Clemons is probably on his last season or as my crystal ball would suggest.....

The Jaguars will not hire DC Billy Davis from the Eagles because the negative comments about him from Eagle fans are the same comments Jaguar fans had against Babich. That the DBs give up on 3rd and long all the time, not game planning against the other team, or making critical changes despite being thrown on all the time. Instead the HC will promote his friend Todd Wash (DL Coach for the last few years in Jacksonville & in Seattle) as Gus can trust him to run the Defense he wants & if Gus gets fired he at least helped his friend possibly be considered as a DC or HC (depending on how the Defense does in 2016).

The Jaguars will draft Florida State Junior CB Jalen Ramsey to play Free Safety with the 5th overall pick in the Draft.

They already made media comments that finding a FS that fits the scheme's need is almost as hard as finding a QB, thus setting the tone & feeling out the fan's opinions should they draft a DB that high in the draft to play FS. Why not another local boy such as Jalen? He is more than capable of performing the single High Cover 3 Safety they are looking for (Earl Thomas kind of guy).

But they still have a huge need at pass rusher & at Cornerback. It seems to me that both GM Dave Caldwell & HC Gus Bradley see the importance of winning this 2016 season and will trade up in the draft to sign CB Vernon Hargreaves III from Florida (another local boy) to compete with House for the starting role and moving Aaron Colvin to starting nickel CB. He will then draft a Center to compete with the 3rd (2nd round used to trade up along with next years 1st). He will then draft a DT in the 4th, OT in the 5th (hoping for Telvin Smith kind of luck on the offense side to challenge Luke), and in Free Agency

he will ensure that the team has a pass rushing LEO should Fowler not pan out by signing JPP DE from the giants. The team is going to have a new HC, and with the off field problems & questions about his injury hindering him on stopping the run & making tackles with the Jaguars being able to offer top dollar he comes... plus Gus had disability players whom overcome in Seattle (Derrick Coleman - being deaf) so JPP hand wont really be a bid deal and making sure that the exact defense Gus Bradley ran in Seattle is done here (or that talent cant be used as an excuse) GM Dave Caldwell signs OTTO Bruce Irvin!

Now the team has the talent on both sides of the ball. The team struggles to gel at first like it did with OC Olsons offense at first this year on D with Wash figuring out DC for the first time & rookie Jalen & Vernon learning but they wind up winning 9 games and going to the playoffs only to lose the wild card game. Yet the team is finally a contender.
