Drafting a kicker

This season it became painfully obvious during the Indy game just how easy a game can be lost on the foot of the kicker. Aguayo is the best kicker to come out since Janikowski. Would you be willing to spend what will most likely amount to a mid round pick (3rd-5th) to get him or would you be willing to roll with Myers and bring in some undrafted competition for him in camp instead and keep the pick for another position of need?

I would use a 5th or so for Aguayo. Yesterday, Dave sounded like he had more confidence in Myers than the rest of us but did say he would bring in competition for the kicker spot. However, I can't picture Dave using a high pick on a kicker, but who knows.

I'd like to see us draft him in the 5th.  maybe trade down, and get something extra out of it.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Nothing earlier than the 6th. Keep in mind that our 5th round pick is very early. That's essentially still a 4th rounder. Should still be able to find talent at that spot at other positions.

Never draft a kicker before round six. They're too easy to find and replace. Even the Steelers were able to find a guy eventually. Never draft a punter at all, imo.

It's a moot point. Caldwell is still high on 24-of-38, and I don't expect to see anything more than a street free agent or UDFA come in. Might even bring Where the Redfern Grows back if he wants a fresh leg that can kick, punt and generally not be a threat to anyone currently on the roster.

i do see more value in the kicker with the longer extra point.

That said, if we fill the necessary holes in free agency, perhaps a 5th rounder or trade down in the 4th would be a solution.

Grab a kicker from free agency, save the draft pick and spend it on OLine or defense, give Oscar the boot..

Not sure how I'd feel about 4 or lower. However a 5th I think I'd be alright with.

I'm not sure you could justify it with the talent Caldwell has got in the late rounds. 6th is probably as far as I'd stretch it.

i'd use a 4th and solve our kicking issues for 15 years.....more than ever kicking is important with the xtra point moved back. We saw that lose us a couple games (i think) this year

Trade up in the 1st I'd guess.  Aguayo is a franchise kicker!  You don't play around and miss that opportunity.

Nothing earlier than a 5th for aguayo for the jags.

6th or 7th would be fine. Anything earlier than that I'm going to start having Gene Smith flashbacks
