Worse news for Sidney

Sidney Jones hurt himself during a drill. Left leg/ankle. Petersen and someone else helping him off the field. Eric EdholmVerified account @Eric_Edholm Just had NFL source (in attendance at Washington pro day) text: "It's a torn Achilles" he was told for CB Sidney Jones. As feared. As long as he wants it, he will come back fine. If it means the jaguars have a chance to get a bargain steal at cb, I can't complain.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Why was he doing drills? He did a full workout at the Combine and performed very well. If I was him, I would've just stood on those numbers until draft day. In fact, I probably would've rented a wheelchair and rolled everywhere until draft day, so I wouldn't risk an injury. I feel for the kid. Any idea how far he might fall? He was a sure-fire first rounder. Now, who knows?
Cleveland will gamble on that kid if he's there in RD2. They have the picks to play with.

Quote:Cleveland will gamble on that kid if he's there in RD2. They have the picks to play with. The Browns could use a couple of CB's. If they draft another top CB with their top pick in round 2, why not take a flyer on Jones with their other 2nd?
After his fairly disappointing combine I thought Jones was more of a top of the 2nd round guy of guy anyway. Would be really silly for the Browns to take him that high.

Quote:Maybe we can pull an AC and grab him in the 4th Yea, if he's there in the 4th you gotta take him. Too much upside to pass on that late.
He was Mayock's number 1 rated CB. He'll probably slide to the 3rd or later.

I absolutely love this guy. I would take the gamble in the fourth for sure. Really feel for him getting hurt so close to the finish line.
General question: Are achilles injuries typical for smaller players? I always associate them with defensive linemen or just bigger people that are straining that tendon. Typically these same big guys have trouble coming back because they lose explosion. How about for a DB? Do they have the same recovery issues as the big guys? |
