Delani Walker should be pleased.

My first instinct is to mock the hire as that 2-14 season is permanently etched in my brain. But then I remember we were one of the only teams he beat as interim HC.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Until we have a HC who can take advantage of such an inept divisional HC ring, it is moot.

Truth. It's not like the Jaguars have moved to take advantage of the situation yet.

I know, like we are in a position to laugh at anybody's coaching hire.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Jim Schwartz came back to Tennessee as Defensive Coordinator.    After Ray Horton was turned down as Tennessee HC after interviewing,  I believe Horton is going to look to move on.

Mularkey isn't and never was as bad as advertised by some.
Yes, he was much worse. Surprised that this is the guy you decided to double down on pirkster. Really thought you had turned over a new leaf on the Gene Smiff thing.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Quote:Yeah, he's even worse than advertised. It's tough to listed to one of his press conferences and not fall asleep, and he does little to motivate his team. Mularkey is easily one of the ten worst head coaches in league history, and we can only hope they retain him thereby remaining one of the league's gutter dwellers for a long time to come.
lol, read my mind. Prikster had a flashback to 2012 and 'in Gene we Trust' with that comment

Quote:Could Mularkey be a placeholder to provide consistency for a potential sell
. New owner would then have a young QB and be able to pick his own GM / Coach?

(Unless they already fired the GM. I haven't paid attention to their offseason.)
Good thought. How much could he cost at this point?

Quote:The tacks are stupid if they keep Mularkey on.  But hey, that's good for us.  Mularkey was a terrible coach.  Even better is if they brought in a GM with the requirement that he wants to keep Mularkey.  That'd make him a pretty weak General Manager on top of having a weak coach.
Maybe they can hire Gene Smith, I hear hes available, and really enjoyed working with Mularkey. After all Pirkster says they are not as bad as advertised, what more endorsement do you need?

Ouch, that might be true. I still like Gus better than Mularkey tho.

That would be good for us. Maybe he can come here. Seems like he is magic with defenses.

Here's the thing to consider before mocking Mularkey, he went 9-7 in his first season with the Bills, and if they had beat the Steelers in week 17 they would have made the play offs. That year their offense was ranked in the top ten in total offense with Drew Bledsoe under center. In his second year the Bills released Bledsoe so that their first round pick from the previous draft could start - JP Losman - and he played so bad he got benched in favor of another QB that I can't remember the name of, but it is safe to say the Bills front office messed up big time by getting rid of Bledsoe. And I think their GM got fired at the end of Mularkey's second season, and he resigned after they brought in Levy to be their GM.

As for here he got stuck with Gabbert and Henne, and was at the start of the full scale rebuild. He was never going to win many games with the team we put on the field.

So maybe the Titans believe they're giving him the best team he's had since the 2004 Bills. He's got the franchise QB. Some play makers. And they're a RB and a couple of O-Lineman off a good offense. They make the right hire at DC and they could win more games next season.

"#Titans defensive coordinator Ray Horton wants OUT. Expect him to take same position with #Browns."

"Source tells @NFLonFOX that @Titans set to hire recently fired @nyjets special teams coach Bobby April for same position"

What a mess...

From a Jags standpoint,  so much would depend on to what extent Gus Bradley would be comfortable in changing the team's Defensive Scheme.    There's no question that Ray Horton is a high quality Defensive Coordinator.
