The fade route

#21

Quote:Definitely needs work. Bortles seems to struggle to get air under the ball so the throw is really flat. This prevents the WR from being able to catch the ball at its highest point and benefits the DB.

Something Blake can improve on that will elevate his game even more.

This. He doesn't seem to throw a "catchable" ball when throwing the fade. I'm sure some off season repetition will help clear that up.

I understand what the OP is saying. Bortles never completes that pass. It looks like he always throws it low and short, instead of dropping it in over the shoulder. If he can practice his touch passes this offseason, look out.

Quote:It's Bortles worst throw and we call it constantly. I don't understand.

I understand what you're saying.   I wouldn't call it in an important game.   That's for sure.   But now, there are no important games left, so if we do get in the red zone, why not?   We need to make it work so defenses can't just sit on the slant.

One thing's for sure.   If we don't call it any more, it'll never work.

Quote:It works in practice against that defense. Only excuse I can think of.

That makes so much sense. Offense probably looks like HOFs in practice against that defense
