Of course it's probable. The Chargers have more owner backing than any other team to move. The owners don't want to stay in San Diego (unlike the Raiders who want to stay in Oakland). The NFL will have at least one team in LA next year.

Watch the video - Rivers is almost in tears. He know it's the last game at Qualcomm stadium.

Three teams applied for a move to Los Angeles. The NFL is not leaning toward any one of them before the vote. Therefore. it is questionable, not probable, that was the last Chargers game in San Diego.

It is NOT even remotely close to being obvious Chargers fans are much better than Rams fans.  

 

The Rams haven't had a winning season since 2003,  haven't been to the playoffs since 2006,  and haven't even finished .500 since 2006.   Yet,  the Rams owner Stan Kroenke has refused to even publicly address the St. Louis Rams fans in years.  But he comes out with plans to build a stadium in Inglewood,  CA.     The combination of a losing product on the field year after year and  a " Major League " movie type of owner would alienate any fan base.

The weather in San Diego is most often far nicer to travel in than St. Louis.

Two teams in the same division playing in the same market and same stadium just doesn't seem right to me. What if they both made the playoffs and one hosted the other? Would there really be a home field advantage for the team that was the "home" team? I realize that playoff tickets would be offered to the season ticket holders of the home team, but that means little as to what happens after that.


I think if two teams move that the Rams and one of the AFC West teams makes the most sense. The two LA teams would then only play each other once every four years like the Giants and Jets do in New York.

The problem with both teams sharing the same stadium would be the lack of a "home and home" series. Instead of "Raiders at Chargers" one week and "Chargers at Raiders" another week, they would just have the same game twice. So if the NFL wants to move two teams, one needs to be the Rams.
