Is this team more talented than the 1999 or 2007 team?

On paper Id say 3rd best besides those rosters. They have the potential to be better than both but we gotta wait and see.

That will always be our best team ever. We only lost to 1 team.


But I think on paper we are better than 2007 IF...and I mean if we get 2015 Bortles.


If we get 2016 Bortles then we're 2008 Jags.

QB throws pick 6's like it is going out of style though.

Need to see it on the field first. I'd say it's capable of having a decent stretch like we had back between 2004 - 2007 during Jack Del Rio's better years. Where they'd be down one year flirting with .500 with 8 or 9 wins and then sneak up on teams like they did in 2005 and 2007 with double digit wins during an easy schedule. I think we're heading in that direction. 

 

I could see us flirting with 7 - 9 wins in 2017 and with the idea of winning 10 - 12 games in 2018. All of this is based on Bortles though. You can have a top ten defense and maybe a top ten running game but if your QB can't hit water if he fell out of a boat or he's spotting teams 7 points every other week we will never succeed as a team. All of this talent goes down the drain. 

 

Nothing scares good talent away on any team faster than a terrible QB.

The most talented in the division. With a real head coach and even average QB play this team should easily win the South. However, there is the #becausejaguars factor...

QB plays like top 15, and we win 10-11 games, if he plays like last year we win 6-7.

The defense is lights out talented...offense will be as good or as bad as Bortles.

Defense should be very good but, they've got to fix this oline big time.

I agree wholeheartedly and I, along with others, have been harping on this point for a LONG time now. 

 

Fixing the o-line and actually having a running game would do wonders for our offense.

 

Running the ball effectively sets up the pass because LBs and DBs tend to creep up - but with no rushing, as evidenced by last year, the players just sit on routes.

The defense is ready. The offense is needing some instant impact from the draft, that's always risky. 

 

I'll be optimistic and predict 8-8 2nd in the division.

Even more so than last year, but that won't matter if we have a useless offense. Need to get that running game going, line fixed, and Bortles has to stop throwing picks.

We are a little bit above the middle of the pack talent wise...

Maybe 13th or 14th most talented out of the 32.

However. ..

If we look at what our talent is right now and also included another Factor when trying to decide what teams are most talented period that factor would be roster potential and likelihood of improvement. I think we have a lot of guys that could seriously step their game up this coming year and make us one of the top five teams talent wise
